Minnie Taper Questions...newbie variety

So, I'm panicking now about maintaining the pace for the Minnie.

I know I'm supposed to be "tapering," and I'm planning on 8 miles this weekend and 6 next, but what about the other workouts? The speed workouts, the cross-training....scale back? maintain?

I think the thing you want to make sure of is that you have fresh legs for the race. If you generally do a speed workout and then are sore or tired for 2-3 days you want to be sure to lay off the speed. My plan is to do my regular speed workout the Monday before Minnie, a tempo workout Wednesday (which are my regularly scheduled workouts), and ideally I'd like to do an easy 3 miler on Friday, but we'll see about that with travelling. I'll rest on Saturday and hopefully be fresh and ready for Sunday morning 6:15 AM.
