Minnie Marathon Weekend 2008

I was really hoping they would move it back at least one week.
I am not supposed to take any time off in May due to sweeps.
Although my supervisor has let me fudge it and go the past two years.
I am just paranoid about being caught by the higher ups.

I found this listing under events at which they will be needing volunteers.
Anyway, I thought it was interesting since it lists the Minnie (not stinkin' Princesses) for 2008 and I think it's still placed the same in the order of events throughout the spring.

I just noticed that Disney removed the May races from there website. This includes the Minnie. Can't see the results anymore from the site.

I'm hoping for an answer soon! I want to make my spring plans!

Otherwise I am seriously considering the Festival 500 half marathon in Indy on Sat May 3rd! It was highly recommended in RW, and is only about 4 hrs from home. Plus I bet the medal is really cool, and the course includes a lap around the Indy speedway. That would be pretty awesome! I would of course prefer a WDW event before my AP expires May 4th (especially an inaugural event); come on Disney what's the scoop??

Indy might be a great place for another WISH meet though, and would add a different state to my half marathon collection (four states so far!). It also has a generous 4 hr time limit.

Keep my fingers and toes crossed for an answer soon!

I emailed them a little over a week ago and didn't even get a canned, thanks for contacting us, we'll respond soon reply!

I guess they are going to keep us on pins and needles!! It's just that if there isn't going to be a spring WDW event, then I definitely want to do the Festival 500 in Indy on May 3rd. Registration for that fills by Nov, so I really need to know about WDW!! Come on already!!!!!!

Hi all, I'm looking for the Minnie info too. A cast member told me it would be happening, but don't know the date. We are sked for the PC cruise, so I'm hoping it's the weekend before while we are in town for the last week of our passes. This Sunday is the DL 5K.

You notice they just now posted the Volkssport today. Only 3 months before. Now how much time do you think they will post the Minnie date They gave us 7 months for ToT so I would expect something in Oct. Maybe at ToT???

Yes, I'm about 13 min. from DL and am doing the 5K, so I will check it out at the health expo on Saturday and report back to you guys.

I have heard from my friend Wendy via a phone call tonight( who is doing the Virginia Beach R&R 1/2), that a person at the Disney Booth stated that the Minnie is alive and well and will be the first weekend of May!

Another source that talked to Disney said it wiil be replaced with a 1/2, probably "Princess" themed.

Yeah, I asked at the DL expo today and was told the minnie will definately happen in 2008 and as Robert stated, will be the first weekend in May. She said the medal will be similar, maybe the same but a different color ribbon.

She also said the ToT race is definate for 2008 as well!

Cool, Becky, you got a little more info than me. She also said the application for the Minnie race should be up on their web site in about 3 weeks. All she told me about the half marathon was there had been discussions about replacing it with a half marathon but “that wasn’t going to happen this year.” But she did specifically say same race, same weekend, same distance, likely same medal with different ribbon, and that currently this was thought to be the final Minnie race.

Yippee I was really hoping the Minnie would continue next year I've only recently discovered the running/walking events at Disney ... the Race for the Taste will be my first ... and after reading the Minnie reports, I realized that was one event I didn't want to miss.

Well, we had a blast at the 5K this weekend. BUT it was Africa hot. The half marathoners were really having a rough time in 100 degree weather. It is about 105 this afternoon at DL. UGH!

And, I found out absolutely nothing about the Minnie, except that it is happening!
