Well we are finally back, not that I wouldn't have loved to stay but as your read these reports you'll see why I put "finally" in there. Once again before I start going...
Who: Amanda (Me) and Saralyn (My Best Friend)
What: A Celebratory 21st Birthday for me and a belated 21st Birthday for Sara
When: August 15th-19th (???)
Where: Disney World of course! Where else would two disney fanatics go?
DISCLAMER: I am a creative fiction writer, if you want short trip reports, stop reading here. If you want detail and some good laughs, keep going. I only write the truth on these so I guess it really isn't fiction but you get the idea. One more thing, I will try to tell time zones but if I forget a few we line in Minnesota (CST)
Day 1
August 15th
I woke up at 8:00am CSTto pack the few things I thought of every half hour the night before. (I got a ton of sleep waking up every half hour to write barley legible notes
) Sara only got an hour of sleep that night so we were begining with a bang. About 4 days prior Sara's purse was stolen so she had nothing for the trip anymore. She had to use her old Drivers license that expired 6 months before to get on the plane and things. Sara worked until 2:30pm CST and I worked until 3:00pm CST at which time we all drove like lunatics (Or typical Minnesotans according to some) to my house where we threw the luggage into my mom's van (She also got off work that day at 3:00pm CST) and drove like lunatics to Sara's friend's appartment to drop off her car. (Jenny and her newly married husband would be picking us up) The we all piled into mom's van and continued Driving like lunatics to get to the Minneapolis/St. Paul Airport about 45 minutes on a good day from my house. At this point everything (except sara's purse) was right on plan and schedule.
Our flight to Atlanta was to leave at 5:55pm CST and arrive at 9:28 EST. Sara and I were able to get the Emergency exit row so we could have the extra space without paying for it. Once in Atlanta our flight to Orlando would be leaving at 10:30 EST about 20 gates away. WE made it with no problems, our crew however did not. They were stuck on a flight which was delayed in Newark NJ and we were told they would only be about 15 minutes late, it wouldn't affect our arrival time in Orlando. At 10:45 the crew was still not there so another crew agreed to board the passengers to wait for the crew. Our real crew arrived at about 11:00pm EST (We are scheduled to arrive in Orlando at 11:50pm EST. Note the word "sheduled") Just as they were finishing with all their preflight checks the tower calls down and grounds all planes because of heavy rain and no visibility. Through all of our waiting Sara and I got to move up a row to get the emergency exit row again and on this leg there was no third person in the row (Even Better!) The bad thing of it though was Sara is prone to really bad migranes where she can get violently ill if it goes on too long. She had by this time taken both her prescriptions for it and neither were working well yet.
Our first day ended at Midnight... watching rain run off the wings of the airplane while on the tarmack in Atlanta, Sara getting a migrane, and me getting bored to tears. Remember our "scheduled" landing time of 11:50 pm EST, not anymore.
Comming soon to a chat board near you...
