My family has decided to get together up here in MN or WI next summer. We would like to be on a lake with a nice beach and swimming. We would also like to fish and be able to take our boat out. We will need at least 2 cabins or a big house. There will be 7 adults and 4 kids. A Door County feel would be nice. :)

Any suggetions? Websites?

Thanks! :)

There are some great resorts on Mill Lacs Lake. Google Minnesota lake cabin resorts and see what you get. Leech Lake also is an excellent area as well as many smaller lakes around the Alexandria, MN area.

I would check out the Brainerd area in MN. There are about 100 resorts there with varying level of service/quality etc. Grandview Lodge is the "premiere" resort in that area. Izaty's and Madden's are two nicer resorts that are reasonably priced and have a lot to do.

If you want the Alexandria area, Arrowwood resort has a GREAT indoor pool, an outdoor pool and it is on a lake. They don't have cabins but they have nice sized rooms, suites, etc. They have a lot of onsite activities, fishing, mini-golf, horseback riding, etc. We were there last weekend as a matter of fact.

There are a lot of smaller resorts that are in these areas as well.

We were going to stay at one resort one year and ended up having to cancel and I can't find the name of that resort. They had a lot of larger houses as well as smaller houses near each other for larger gatherings. They had a great beach and other activities.

I second the Brainerd area! Nisswa is a neat little town and there is the Paul Bunyan Trail for biking. It is paved and flat and I think about 25 miles long. It goes through several small towns and bike rentals are available. We have stayed at both Madden's and Kavanaugh's:

I preferred Kavanaugh's smaller, family owned atmosphere better.

The gem of the area, mentioned above, is Grand View Lodge:

I would love to stay there, but for the price, I can go to Disney World!
