what a horrible accident:worried: . as i sit here watching the news reports on this bridge collapse, i asked dh if we could avoid bridges on the way down to florida in october..

it is not sure how many have lost their lives as of right now. i do know there was a baseball game that was suppose to start about 1 hour after the bridge collapsed. the stadium isn't far from the area.

such a sad day....:sad1:

I know it! If it's true that no children were hurt in the bus that was behind the tractor trailer that was on fire, that's just a miracle!

I'm not a fan of driving over long bridges above water, so getting through Louisiana is really fun. I add an extra layer of defensive driving when I'm in that situation (what if...?). But, the realistic side in me makes sure I have my plan but don't wig out worrying. (I have a dream to go to Key West some day, we'll see how my plan works then!)

Let's hope there aren't too many casualties.

there are 6 lost lives so far..:sad2:

the baseball game did get played. if they wouldn't of played the traffic would of been horrible. so, they decided to play and try to alleviate some of the problems with traffic.

granted after the game there will be issues. but, it probably helped for now.

the thursday game is post poned (from what i heard)...

I live in the Twin Cities. I also live about 4 miles down river from the bridge collapse. When I went to the University of Minnesota I had to cross that bridge twice a day, and whenever I go visit my wife at work I had to cross that bridge. I am happy because my wifes aunt, who works at the UofMN crossed the bridge 30 minutes before it happened. I am not happy with the way our local media is handling the news, it was reported on NPR that military helecopters had to chase away the newscopters a few times. I am really sad because the Ford Lock and Damn is outside my window, and there is a boat with a search light in the water.

We lived there until we moved down here to Florida 3 years ago. I went across that bridge on the way to work every single day. It's so sad. I'm waiting to hear from former co-workers this morning, and I hope they're all ok.

Our thoughts are with everybody who was involved, and their families and friends.

As of right now the number of people who lost their lives are 4.All children and adults that were on the bus made it off alive but 10 of the children and 6 others are still hospitalised.20 to 30 people are still missing. Join us in our prayers for all involved.:grouphug:

My prayers to the families.... I was born in MPLS and still love the Twin Cities so much. I know i have had to been on the bridge as a kid.... my cousins lived in St. Paul and we lived in MPLS so I am sure we had to of crossed it many times.
