Minne Marathon Team List

HI-I finally officially registered for the 5K (was surprised to see it's half full). It will be my first Disney run of any kind as I am a fairly new runner but an avid WDW fan. We'll be staying at SSR. Dh, myself and dd. Just me running.:thumbsup2 Can you add me to the list? THANKS!:goodvibes

Becky - I was thinking about going, too. We went to one of the first ones last Jan and had a blast. It'll be just me (DH can't make the trip) so would be great to hook up with some WISHers.

Hello fellow Minnie WISH teammates! I was just checking in to see how everyone is doing. I hope everybody's training is coming along good.

Only 46 more days to go!:thumbsup2

Hi,

I'm getting very excited about my first Minnie. The training has been slow since I've been sick for so long this winter, but now it's spring and I've had a couple decent weeks of training. I hope everyone else is training well.

Cindy

Our entire crew is doing the PPP on Friday - my sis and I are also doing the 5k on Saturday, so we may leave the "children" (21 and 18 ) at the party and come back to WL without them. I am sure they can find their way back without their mommies. :thumbsup2

Knowing our kids, they will stay until the very end of the party. My DS is already a seasonal CM, working anytime he can get from Ohio State and our central Ohio home down to Orlando. Know anyone else who commutes by plane to their part time job? :rotfl2:

My niece is counting down until she can do the College Program. We have certainly passed on the Disney gene :lmao:

All 4 of us are doing the 15K on Sunday with the kids making up the "DisneyBuckeyes" team. DS is a junior at Ohio State and niece will be a freshman in the fall. :cheer2:

Hope everyone is doing well...I'm worried about this weekend, we will be traveling and EATING-lots- That's what happens when family gets together and I fear it will be tough getting myself together next week. I have become OCD about keeping up my workouts. I'm not complaining just expressing my person concern. I really am blessed and have nothing to complain about...it is sunny outside-no floods or snow to deal with. I'm healthy and have a great family, who I'm sure is tired of hearing about my training.

I did 7 miles on the TM today-I wanted to go outside, but the "gusty" winds scared me in.

Hope everyone has a wonderful Easter or if you are Jewish(I know Passover is next month) a great Passover and a wonderful wonderful to all who celebrate neither. :goodvibes

I think it's a concern for many of us to get back on track after a family get together. Enjoy this weekend, and start again after the weekend. I think we need occasional splurges, then back to our 'plans'.
I did go outside to walk today and the winds here were a little more than 'gusty'. Walking into the wind actually slowed me down considerably, at some points I was actually surprised I was moving forward at all! :lmao:

I'm really looking forward to the Minnie! But a little scared :scared1: at the same time. It's my first race...AND I'm a walker not a runner, but with the support of the WISH Team I'm sure it will be a good experience.

Ok, Anne, you can add me to the list now. I have officially registered. :teeth:

 :dance3: :woohoo: :cool1: :wizard: :scared: princess: :cool2: ::MinnieMo

I can totally relate with you. I was always a "walker" and not a runner. I ran my very first 5K last month and it went well. I was able to run the whole thing which was a lot for a beginner like me. I really didn't start running at all until last Oct. because I had lost a lot of weight so I was able to run without feeling that excess weight which I thought was pretty cool. At the time, I was aware of a 5K they do in my town every FEB. and was determined to try it and I'm sure glad I did.

Then I saw the advertisement for the Minnie Marathon weekend in a Runner's Magazine and just signed up to do the 5K. To many a 5K is a "piece of cake" but to us walkers it's a big thing.

Quite honestly I was not very nervous when I did the 5K in my town as the starting point was only a 10 min. walk from my house and it started at 7:30 which for a "I hate to get up early on a weekend" person wasn't too bad.

I'm a little nervous about Minnie because it starts at 7:00 am and I'm not sure how long it'll take to drive over and park, etc from the resort we're staying at. Plus I don't sleep great at WDW as it is so I sure hope I get enough rest. That's what I'm nervous about. As far as the run, I'm not nervous, it's everything BEFORE it, LOL!!

If you are a fast walker you will be fine for the 5K. Many walkers will alternate walking and running during a 5K. I had planned to do that last month but was extremely motivated to run that 5K (and I did). I expect it to be warmer this time so I may just intervals of running. But, I am so looking forward to running through Epcot!:thumbsup2

Thanks for your words of encouragement and support. Like you, I'm nervous about how early it starts (I'm doing the 15K), and also not being able to sleep the night before. I did a training walk today of 9.8 miles at under a 15 minute pace, so I know I can finish and not get swept. That's all I'm going to worry about at this point; I can work on speed later.

Sounds like you're going about it all the right way!:thumbsup2 Doing the 15K is awesome and if you're walking almost 10 miles now, you'll be just fine! There will be a lot of people switching back and forth between walking and running in the 15K, so you shouldn't feel like you'll be the only one walking.

Just make sure you try to get to bed early that week before as much as you can, that's my plan! You'll have lots of energy no matter what for the run (the adrenalin rush really kicks in no matter how much sleep you get or don't get), it's just that you don't want to crash too hard afterwards! ;)

Updated! :goodvibes

Six weeks to go!!! Keep up the good work!

Caitsmama, The only place to see the participants at the finish will be when we exit EPCOT into the parking lot where the finish line is. There will be a huge finsh sign and barricades along the last little bit of the route where people will be standing and yelling. As you approach the entrance to EPCOT, the finish area is in a parking lot to the left. It's about a 1/2 mile from the entrance to the finish line, and no trams run it!

Those who are experienced with this, can you leave the start and drive to EPCOT? Will they let spectators in to park near the finish line after the race has begun?

 Definitely a problem for me; I'm a late night person, definitely not a morning person. Even when I tell myself that I'm going to go to be by 10 or 10:30 or whatever, I'm usually still up at midnight. I definitely don't want to crash afterwards, so I'd better 'get serious' with myself. :)

HI TEAM :thumbsup2

Getting so excited!!!! I am now finally officially registered for the 5 and 15K and hotel will be paid this weekend. NOW it feels REAL!!!!

Hope everyone's training is going well!!

Did we decide where we are having our WISH meet? :confused3

And does anyone want to meet at/before the P&PP Friday?

I'm excited :cool1: and quite scared:scared1: with the Minnie being so close. It's my first 15K and still worried about the 15 min pace. Just try to keep thinking positive but sometimes that doubt jumps out of the dark corner, ya know?

Hope everyone's training is going well.

15 min pace!!! :scared1: Why was I thinking a 16 min pace??? Maybe that's for the Donald...

Stacie

Do they have pace people at all that do the Minnie 15K? If not is anyone that runs a 8:45-9:00 mile pace interested in running with me? I know I can keep the pace with my Garmin but would love to run with someone.

I just double checked (actually hoping I was wrong;) ) but no... 15 min pace for both the 5K & 15K.
