Minne Marathon Team List

Susie - :wizard:
Liz - That'd eb great!
Kevin - lol, what are friend's for, if not that brutal honesty. Again, don't let it go to your head. ;)
Tink06 - Just follow teh glow. ;) Trust me, not hard at all. Very small pre-race area.

OMG, 54 days 'til I go to WDW!!!

I might not be able to make it to the WISH meet but would still like to meet people - I most likely will wear my WISH shirt (the one we are getting from RaceReady) so I should be noticable to you guys. Also might not be doing the 5k. Have to see if my niece will be able to make the trip or not. As it is now I don't have reservations for Friday night so the 5k might not be doable.

Judy - I hear ya on the weather! We're finally getting a weekend that is above 40 and one day w/o rain. Winter has been too long for most of us this year.

Have added the name tags/markers to my packing list so I don't forget (have one in excel I just tweak for each trip).

Made my reservation at CB for Friday-Monday. Gotta love AP rates!

I'm still batting around the idea of doing the 5K as well but if I decide not to does anyone go cheer on those that are? Know not allowed on course but wondering if there's a screaming group at start/finish.

I'm doing the 5k, in my everyday wheelchair, as I do not have a racing one. It will be my first race ever.

Syko - congrats on entering the race! I'm sure you'll do great! I've seen the racing chairs and some of them are way sleek. Figuring also pricey though...

Wow. Not something I could do. Way to go! That is awesome! Hope you can get a racing chair soon!

syko, :welcome: Gotcha on the list! Please stop by and introduce yourself on race day!! Hey, come on over to the weekly training thread and join in on the fun. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1748383 As your screen name suggests, you'll fit right in with this group!! :lmao:

Liz, This is WISH for goodness sakes!! OF COURSE we'll be there cheering!!! :cheer2: This is the first year for the 5K to be at EPCOT, so, we'll probably be at both the start and the finish! :dance3: Thanks for bringing the name tags! :thanks: Packing list in Excel..hmmmm..sounds alot like another VERY organized WISHer (keenercam) :rolleyes1 Just be prepared for requests to share!

SYKO that is KEWL!!!!!

Looking forward to seeing where the meet will be and we will try to make it for sure. No real preference here,

Mel, OMG Meningitis! I do WISH it is not so.

I voted on the poll thread.

EeK  it won't be long!

:yay:

Hi everyone.. i voted for POR. :)

It's getting clooooser!!!

Caitsmama, If you go to http://disneyworldsports.disney.go....nce2008MinnieMarathonWeekend5KEventDetailPage , on the right hand side, you can click on "Course Map" to see exactly where you will be running. Some of us like to print out the map and train by running the course!

Epcot® Imagine Lot
HTH!! :goodvibes Anne

Thanks for that info! I had seen the map before -- but was unclear exactly where it started -- i didn't see it named anywhere..
Then, i posted something about taking a cab to Epcot for the start- and someone said it started at AK-- which i thought is just the 15k right??
The 5k DOES start at Epcot... right?

People at the start and finish are loved and appreciated! Yes, please come cheer us on even if you don't do the 5K

Yup, the 5K starts and ends at the Epcot parking lot.

Stacey, I know you are nervous, but you don't need to trust anyone other than the Disney people if you go to the WWoS website. At that same link, if you click on "Register" and scroll down, there is the info that I cut and pasted. The 5K has a new course this year and starts at EPCOT. Before, it was held at Downtown Disney, so the 5K NEVER was at AK. Breathe, Stacey, breathe!! ;)

Quick note on trans to the 15K -- I will have a car, staying at CB and figuring on driving to Epcot then taking the trans they offer to the start. I'd be willing to pick up anyone needing a ride from CB or PC (since it's next door). Naturally have a car limit (don't want to look like clown car :clown: ) but wouldn't mind the early morning company!

Just PM me and I'll keep a list then we'll figure out time little closer.

Thanks for the welcomes, I will keep a look out for your lime green shirts, I know my husband saw them on the T of T run.
I will not be doing any training for the run, as my disablity is caused by illness and training would make me worse!!!! so I am going to do it cold, thats why its not worth the $$$ for me to get a racing chair.
I can't wait to give the 5K a try, I saw the runners last year and said that I had to do it too, also I don't think that Disney will be able to sweep me as my chair is too wide to fit on any of there buses!!!!!!!!!

:lmao: :lmao: Well, you don't really need to worry too much about the 5K. They are a little more generous on the 15 min pace limit on the 5K. You'll be flying by a lot of people with your chair, anyway!! There was one wheelchair athlete at the marathon two years ago who crashed in his racer around the 9 mile mark. He couldn't continue in his, so he grabbed a regular Disney wheelchair and finished the race!! Please do come look for us! :goodvibes

Haaa... do i seen NERVOUS?!! :lmao: :lmao: Thank you very much for the info! I wish we could have stayed at the bc/yc, it would be easier, but we are at por - b/c we are going in Nov. and staying at the BC. So, hey... to go twice in a year, i will stay anywhere!! :thumbsup2
Actually, i think i am just more nervous being that it is the first 5k (or ANY k for that matter!) that i have ever done.. i am normally not the "athletic" type! ;) But, as you know, any excuse to get back to WDW works for me.. That and turning 30 last november -- kinda gave me a push. :goodvibes

I think there are several of us newbies that have butterflies in our stomachs because it's our first race. I'm doing the 15K (walking), and although I know I can walk that far and walk it fast enough, I've never been in an official race. I've read all I can on this site, which has helped calm my fears immensely. My 'push' is turning 55 this year, made me want to start doing things I had previously dreamed or thought about. The other thing that helps calm me, is my plan to just look for the green WISH shirted people, I know I can count on any of them to give me advice or encouragement. :goodvibes

Greetings -

I am posting this picture of me for you ladies who are nervous. It should actually be on the "Worst Race Photo Ever" because of the ugly knees, sausage shorts and totally 80's headband...but my point is......look at how much fun I'm having! And!! Notice I am not the "athletic type" at all. So calm your fears. This was my first Minnie last year. Know not everyone out there is Olympic caliber. We all do our best and have a great time and that is what it's all about. :thumbsup2

OK, no laughing.....
