We usually go a week, but it worked out better to fly in the night before so we will have the car for 8 days.

What's a good price for 8 days? Anyone know? I know there are some good weekly rates out there but I don't know what's a good daily charge to look for for that 8th day so I know what a good total bill looks like.

Any opinions?

By the way, it's a while away. Dec 3-11.

Last May, we paid $215 for a minivan from Alamo, including all taxes, etc. The price was consistently between $250 and $300 (I checked back often), right up until 2-3 weeks out, then I got a new code from mousesavers.com and voila, the price dropped like a rock.

Now I'm looking at 8 days again for this May, and the prices are just over $300 from both Alamo and Dollar, despite trying all the codes.

My advice is to keep checking mousesavers plus sign up for several rental companies' "special deals" e-newsletters. Then, the closer you get, keep checking back. The good thing is, you can make a reservation with no credit card, etc., and just keep booking new reservations and cancelling the old everytime you see the price drop. I can't imagine the price would be much below $225, with all the taxes, etc.

Hope I've helped.

I currently have a minivan booked through Dollar for 8 days (11/26 - 12/4). Used KISS code (got it from MouseSavers) and the price including taxes & fees is estimated at $337.

National wants close to $600 for same thing.

I've rented through Dollar before and had good experiences. You don't get to pick your own vehicle, though, so I'm still hoping that National's price will come down.

Wish we could use a full size, but have 6 people and their luggage this time. Haven't been able to find any coupons that work for minivans. Don't think they offer any, drat!

Carol--

I guess what I saw on National is okay then. I have the Entertainment book and I used the $20 coupon there plus I played with some different codes - EA, Entertainment, Carlson - and they were all around $300 with taxes and such.

With the Emerald Clud code I had a total rate of $300.18
With the Carlson code, the rate was $301.45
With the Entertainment code the rate was 303.72

I didn't know if those rates were worth reserving at this point or not. I know you are travelling the week or so before me so your rates probably accurately reflect what things are going for at this time. I know rates tend to go down as we get closer to the dates, but I just wasn't sure what a good rate was for 8 days.

Talk with you soon!

i've been checking daily and alamo just put a minivan for a week at $215.00 - the others don't even come close yet but i assume they will follow - good luck

If you have a BJ's membership use the coupon for the Dollar10% off time and milage. You might get a lower rate. I reserved last night for a minivan 11/25 to 12/3 for est $287.66( inc tax etc). This was for an off airport rental located at the former Marriott at Downtown Disney. I was shocked when this coupon worked since my rental starts on thanksgiving. I keep looking for a better deal but don't think I'll find one.

If you have a late flight in and can get a substantially better rate for 1 week (vs the 8 days) you might want to just do a Priceline bid for a 3*hotel in the MCO area. They are all nice hotels, with complimentary airport shuttle (lately the Hyatt in the airport has been coming up a lot for $30 - 40/night)... we often do that.

That way you can shuttle to the hotel on arrival, spend the night and shuttle back to the airport the next AM, pick up the car and head off to the parks as early as you want. Sometimes the savings are substantial....sometimes not much, but often it has helped us a lot.
