My daughters are 40.5" and 41" and the minimum height is 42". How strict are they on measuring height? If they are close do the attendants stand there and check every child's height?

I realise there are rules but how strictly (to the letter) does Disney follow those height rules?

From all I've heard they are very strict on the height requirement.

If they are not 42" when you get on board, chances are they will not allow them to ride.

My experience has been that they are very strict. They measure the child at bottom of stairs and if they aren't tall enough to ride alone (54", I think), then they get banded. This also alleviates having to checked every time. There is also another height "stick" at the top that the attendant can use if needed, but yes from what I have seen is they absolutely check to make sure they are 42" minimum height.

There is a swirly slide by the pool that my youngest has enjoyed on our previous cruises.

Maybe they will have a growth spurt before you sail. :)

Rules Rules Rules. This is one that they strictly enforce. What ship are you sailing? The Mickey slide is lots of fun!!!

Very strict. My son was as close as he could have been to the bar without touching it and they said nope. I also saw they made kids who were close to the height cut off remove thier water shoes to remeasure.

I like that the measurement is a little away from the ride. We just told him we were stopping to see how tall he was so there wasn't a disappointment factor. We knew he was right at 42 but we werent sure if our 42 = the disney 42. He was more than happy to ride the mickey slide for the entire week.

My daughter Katie was so close to the line the CM measured her approx 7-8 times (she was that close, we were just trying to get her to stand up straighter. and there was a little boy about 2 years younger behind us (who was tall enough) He finally let her go on after I said "she will never be tall, I am only 4'11" He said his kid is short too.

Please remember that there is a safety reason for the height requirement. It's not just a "random rule".

They had our son take off his swim shoes and hat to measure him. Very strict. He just cleared the 42 inches. Then, he hated the AquaDuck so he just went down the Mickey Slide 40 times in one afternoon (no exaggeration)!

Thanks for the info. Agreed, rules have to be followed and I know they are going to love the Mickey slide. We will check the height bar that is away from the AquaDuck and will just ignore/not talk about that ride otherwise.

And the rule is...
42" + will allow you to go down with an older person.
52" + you can go alone

Is the minimum height to ride alone 52 inches or 54 inches?

From DCL website:
Riders should note that:
•AquaDuck is designed for adults and children at least 42" or taller
•Single riders must be at least 54" or taller
•Children under 7 must ride with someone 14 years of age or older, provided the child is at least 42" tall
•No snorkel equipment or swim goggles are allowed in the pool

Enjoy your cruise!

Bolded above is incorrect -- minimum height for a single rider is 54 inches

How strict are they with the Mickey Slide? My boy is just shy of the 38" and he does love slides. He is also potty trained.

Thanks!! :cool1: I was hoping my 7 and 10 year olds could ride together, as my 7 year old is too short to ride alone.

Again, the height restrictions are set for safety reasons. I get that it's disappointing, but surely you'd rather have a disappointed but safe child than one who's happy until a preventable accident happens.

They are very strict. My son was right at the cutoff mark depending on how straight we could get him to stand. First time up, they told him no when we were walking by. Later in the day, he had his water shoes on and I figured it was worth a try and they actually approved him and gave him an arm band. We rode it several times together. Later in the afternoon, my wife wanted to take him and we figured the armband was a guarantee. No such luck, they stopped them, had him take off his shoes and spent about 2 minutes trying to get him to stand up straight and not be on his tippy toes (didn't help he pretty much knew what they were trying to do so he was trying to make himself as tall as possible - smart 4 year old). They told them no he couldn't go. The next day with a different attendant he rode it with my wife no questions asked since he had the arm band.

So yes they are strict, but it varies on how is the attendant checking.

Note that most of us -- adults and children -- will measure tallest earlier in the day. So if you have a borderline-tall child, try doing the AquaDuck first thing in the morning. By afternoon/evening, the body is tired and literally slumps no matter how straight you try to stand. Sort of like shoe shopping -- go late in the day when your feet are "fuller" or flatter to get the right size.

Just as strict as with the aquaduck. The have someone at the bottom checking heights (only difference is they never issue an arm band to kids once they've been checked). My son got on no problems, but my daughter was about 1" to short. Didn't matter the attendant, they were very good about pulling kids aside who were close to the mark and measuring them every time. My daughter, while disappointed, was pretty happy riding the smaller slide in Nemo's Reef.
