Minimum age for riding train tender?

My 5 yr old son is a huge train nut and I know you can ask to ride on the train tender but for safety reason I didn't know if you had to be a certain. Last time we were at DL, my son could have just ridden the train all day. Only only 2 people can do it and you should ask first thing in the morning at Main Street station. Any other tips?

I don't know what the minimum age is, but I know I did it when I was 8 or 9. It was a lot of fun! I hope your son loves it! I'll be following in hopes of seeing the minimum age since my son is turning 5 in a week. We were suppose to go to Disneyland this week, but my husband got jury duty and my twins got pink eye, so we're stuck here. Maybe some good will come of this and he'll be able to ride the train tender, too?

DS did it when he was 4! One of the highlights of his trip. The seat is pretty tiny.

My son was picked randomly when he was 4 or 5. He happened to have on a train shirt and the conductor also said only little ones with closed toe shoes can participate.

Oh good! I'm going to try and see if I can make it happen in our trip in August.
