We are staying at the YC in October and I was wondering what exactly is in the minibar? I have thought about using the Disney florist to deliver some things to the kids to start their vacation with a little magic but, was wondering if the minibar would have things just as good a price. I am assuming this is not a traditional mini "bar". Thanks bunches:D

Welcome to the DIS, msluvsdisney. :)

DH & I stayed at BC last year. Our mini-bar was a small fridge with assorted cans of soft drinks, 3 cans of beer, 5 bottles of water, a couple of cans of juice, about 10 small (single-serving) bottles of liquor, couple of cans of mixers, small box (6-8oz?) of milk, a couple of powerade-type drinks, 2 small bottles of wine. On top of the entertainment armoire was another display of various candy bars, chips, cookies, snacks, disposable camera, logo koozies (or huggers or whatever you call them - the can cooler thingees), refillable mugs, etc. I don’t remember the prices except to recall looking at the price list and thinking it was ridiculously over-priced but that is the way of the hotel mini-bar. The refillable mug may be the same price as you would get otherwise so if you plan on doing the mug thing you might use the ones in the room. But double-check the price! We didn’t do the mug thing so didn’t notice if there was a price difference.

I know it's not cheap to have the florist make an arrangement but I would think you might get a better value that way along with a nice presentation. Depending on the ages of the kids, the mini-bar might be just as nice a presentation. :p

I’ve got close-up pictures of the inside of the fridge and display on top of the armoire. If you PM me your email address I’ll email them to you. I’ll also see if I can dig up a price list for the YC/BC mini-bars. I think I kept mine but it might be easier to look for it on the internet than to try to find mine. ;)

Just to let you know regarding the minibars. We were looking through it on one of our trips to the CBR, and did not put the items back in the same order. We were charged at checkout for peanuts that we never even ate!! It was easily rectified, but just be careful!

So does that mean that you can't just take everything out of the mini-bar and use the mini-bar as a fridge while you are there, then put everything back before you check out?

You know Missypie that is a very good question. I would like to know the answer to this also since we are renting afrige anyway. I wonder if you can call ahead and have them empty it before you get there? HMMMM.

I know that some mini-bar fridges are so high tech that each item is placed on a sensor, so that if you even move anything you are charged. It seems like no one would shell out the $ to rent a fridge if you could just empty the mini-bar and use that. If we don't get an answer, I'll post the question on the YC/BC thread.

To answer all the questions;
1. The prices are pretty excpensive, but not worse than the gift shop. For example a disposable camera in the mini bar is 21.00 and in the BC gift shop was 19.99. I do remeber a bottle of water being 3.50, as it is in the park (these prices are from July, they may change)

2. We did bring our own breakfast foods, milk and water. All the non-perishable foods went on a huge shelf under the vanity outside the bathroom, and the milk, soda and water went into the refriderator. If you take a drink out, make you sure you call house keeping and tell them that all the drinks you took out are on the dressor above it. We put rubber bands around our drinks so no one drank the 4.00 ones instead. They usually have no problem with you putting your thinks into the fridge, as long as you dont move around too much.
Have a wonderful time,
The beach club is beautiful. Although it does take a couple days to orient yourself, you will have fun doing it.

Here is something that I found on the Internet regarding the YC's in-room minibars. By the way, I believe that there is usually a service charge added to your bill for the restocking of the minibar.
