Mini-van rental question

There will be 6 of us traveling and I'm worried about having enough space in the rental we choose. Is there enough room in the back of a minivan for 6 large size suitcases? I'm wondering if we will be better off renting 2 rental cars or if a van would have ample space.

A Chystler Town and Country should have enough room, A Caravan might not but a Grand Caravan should. The Honda and Toyota both have quite a bit of room and many of them have stowage below the floors. I'm guessing a van would suit you. After all half the fun of going some where is everyone riding together. Have fun!

A Chrysler/Dodge may not depending how you define "large". There are 6 of us and we did not have 6 suitcases, but with 3 suitcases and carryons the area in the back was stacked from floor to ceiling and barely able to close the hatch with the extended version.

The Hondas have a deep well in the back that should work depending on what "large" is. Not sure about the Toyotas.

I have traveled in both a Town and Country and a Dodge Grand Caravan...in the Town and Country...no, you will not have enough room. We needed a luggage rack on top. With the Grand Caravan, you should have enough room. Ask if it has the stow and go option, which it should. You will be amazed at how much stuff will fit in the stow and go. The Grand Caravan's back storage space is deep rather than flat, so that the suitcases set down in it. That allows for things to be stacked somewhat. I will say though that it depends on how large the suitcases are. If they are oversized then probably not. I had to tell everyone going that they could only pack one regular sized suitcase and a small bag, or that we wouldn't be able to fit. Everyone packed according to the space limitations...and no one minded.

The 7 passenger mini-van from Dodge/Crysler will not hold all the luggage without a luggage rack. The 8 passenger Toyota has more room in the back. You would be able to stand luggage sideways but you would still be crowded - not even sure these are available since Alamo/National don't have the category anymore. Even though some of the mini-vans offer the stow-n-go the rental vans may not since they usually just get your basic models.
