there are pros and cons for both but driving from PA am worried about the gas prices, what do you all think? :grouphug:

How many in your traveling party? Will the trunk of the car be large enough to hold all your luggage?

Best wishes-

Even though gas prices are high, I would still stick with the minivan. The comfort will be much better, and if you are picking up and returning at the same location, you could take the 3rd row of seats out and leave them at your house and have tons of room for luggage....

just me and my 11 year old twins!! Yea I know, they really don't want to drive, I am still thinking of flying down and driving back, wish I had coupons tho.

I had a fare close to $100 on AirTran from BWI and there might be similar fares from Dulles. How far are you from DC? Otherwise it depends on the minivan. I have driven Caravans that get 25-26 mpg on the highway and some Odessy owners claim that do better than that. I guess you can calculate the cost difference by:

(miles divided by mpg for the car) - (miles divided by mpg for the minivan) = gallons difference. The multiply by the price of fuel per gallon.

My guess is you are looking at a gas differential for the round trip of 10-15 gallons or around $30-45 max.

If there are only 3 of you I would get a car. Also if you do a one way rental it will be more expensive.

Minivan with a DVD player and wireless headsets! It will be well worth the extra money in gas!
