mini-van hire/Sat Nav

Hi folks
We have hired our mini-van through American Specialists Ltd - a 12 seater from Dollar. I wanted to see if they hired sat navs so had a look on their web-site but I can't even find any 12 seater vans and now I'm a bit worried (..and the holiday company is closed on sundays so can't phone them!)

Anyone know anything about the 12 seaters from Dollar ???

The other thing I wondered about is whether it's cheaper to hire a Sat Nav for 2wks or buy the maps for a sat Nav ( my sis has a tom-tom and thinks it might be cheaper renting one rather than buying the map. This is her 1st trip to orlando ..."...and I'm only going to be going once, so not worth buying the map !!" ...sound familiar!!!)

Only going once eh?: If i had a Dollar for every time i've heard that statement then i'd be a VERY ritch woman

Cant help with the mini van but DH bought a Tom Tom just before we went back for the 7th time (we were only going just the once as well ) last year and we found it invaluable. if you already have one then it would maybe be worth getting the US map thingy (i'm sooooo technical he he!) i don't think DH had to buy anything extra though, i'm sure everything was already in there.

I'm sure someone will be along to help you out with the van question soon

Thanks for the reply...yeah we said that we were only gonna go the once and this will be our 4th trip . I'm sure my sis will be the same!! She's seen a map on ebay pretty cheap so I think she's just gonna buy that.

last time I looked at renting a satnav from Dollar it was £110 for 25 nights. I only paid £100 to buy one.
TOMTOM US maps are available on Ebay. You will probably find if its cheap its a copy but wont tell you in the listing, very carefully worded usually.
I used our TOMTOM in Florida and California and its great software.

Not sure about the sat-nav but generally a 12 seater van usually means either a Dodge Ram or Ford E350 (shown below).
