I know I am pathetic, but I cannot wade through all of this  ...

We are a party of six: three adults, three children, who need a mini-van with dvd or vcr for ten days in October...

I'm a member of AAA and I have the Ent Book. I also am a member of NASE which sometimes has good rates.

Does anyone have experience with renting a minivan for this long, and if so, what can I expect to pay? Can anyone ballpark it for me or tell me what is a GOOD rate? I tried the Hertz website and entered a AAA number from the back of my card, and the quote was for $555. EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEK.

Any advice? Thanks you guys! :bounce:

The best rate for a minivan I found was by going to www.pricelessvacations.com/cars click on the link for alamo. Click on link for one free day and choose reserve now. Plug in your info, it will fill in the codes etc.

You could also then follow the link to national and see what they are offering.

Also enter the coupon code from your ent book on the national site for an extra $20 off.

You could check out mousesavers.com for some ideas on discount codes to use for a minivan rental. You may have a problem getting a van with a DVD or VCR player though. I have been renting vans for years in Orlando and I have never gotten one yet. I know some others here have reported that they did get one. I would really think it would be hit or miss on that request, and would depend on what kind of vehicles were in the rental pool when you get the car. You could call the rental company and ask them if they have vans with the entertainment system to see if any of them do carry them now.

The best rate that I have found so far for end of July for 17 days has been dollar using kiss3. I dont have my reserv in front of me but I think it was 229/wk and 39 for extra days. Good Luck

I am also pricing a SUV or mini-van for 10 nights 10/22 - 11/2 I got a rate of 400.87. Both the mini-van and SUV came out to the same price. I got the rate from National using the Priceless code, Ent coupon and WWEB code. It still seemed high to me, maybe it was a good deal afterall?

We recently purchased a portable DVD player and used it in a rental minivan. It worked pretty well. It had a remote so that we were able to control the player from the front seat. We put it behind the passenger headrest and only my 3 year old watched. It can also go between the front seats but I'm not sure how that would work out with visability (both for the driver and the kids).

Our minivan was from National at Newark airport in NJ. They only had Chevy Montanas or Dodge Grand Caravans. We took a Montana with seats for 8, 2 front, 3 in the middle and 3 in the rear. The rear seat folded flat to the floor, which was great for us! CD player, 1 integrated child seat (looked uncomfortable), no DVD.

I had trouble getting a good rate and ended up paying $718 for 18 days, including all the fees/taxes.
