We are back from our third and final day at DL. It has been a good trip and we are all wiped out. I would have stayed longer but I literally couldn't walk any more:lmao:

Today was not as crowded as I expected. Not at ALL. In fact, the crowds have been lighter as the week has progressed with Monday being the worst. Today was our slow day and we still did:

Nemo
It's a Small World
Princess Fantasy Faire
Rode the train from toontown to NOS
Haunted Mansion
Pirates

Then we did Captain Kidd's buffet at lunch. Food was decent. Not spectacular, but if you are really hungry it's a good value at $7.99 for adults and $4.59 for kids ($1.99 for toddlers but you have to request that pricing)

We came back to Hojo's for a nap and got to California Adventure at about 3 PM and we did:
Turtle talk w/ Crush
Playhouse Disney
Pixar Parade
Soaring over California

Then we went back to DL for:
Tiki Room
Splash Mtn (My 5 YO's FAVORITE!)

It's only 9 PM now but we're DONE. We have tomorrow at Knott's and then a 14 hour drive home.:scared1: j

Did you walk back and forth to hojos, or did you take ART? How did you 5 y o tolerate the walk, or was he in a stroller?

we walked and both kids have strollers (recommended!!)

I am so glad crowds have subsided. It does sound tough that you and your family are having a great trip.

wow, Cpt Kids, I have not read favorable reviews on that one....good for you. the pricing sounds right, but I would love to hear more about quality.

Stollers- you say one is 5, how old is the other? we will be traveling with a 3 and 5 y/o, staying at Hojo and am concidering a sit and stand. What do you think? I know the 5 yo is bit big for the sit and stnad, but I figure for the short bit from Hojo to park and various times through park it should do....but I dont really know??

thanks for the report throught.

Don't worry. Crowds will probably be back full force by Friday...I think. Hopefully, I'm wrong though cause I am dying to go back!

We were there yesterday, too, and I was AMAZED as how NON-crowded it was! I think the rain forecast scared alot away, but it ended up to be almost perfect...just a couple of sprinkles during the day....we never even got our ponchos out!

We got everything done with minimal wait times. The worst wait time I think was the princess thing...which I don't know if I'd wait again for that :-( . We got on Buzz, Small World, into everything in Toon Town, teacups (twice!), Dumbo, Toad, and the Merry Go Round...we skipped Peter Pan and Snow White (Snow White was broken when we tried going on, and it was close to lunchtime, so we decided to skip Peter Pan). We then went over to California Adventure and had a bread bowl (waited a half hour in line for one!!!!), saw Crush, Muppets, Monsters Inc and saw Playhouse Disney for the first time...my kids loved it! We then watched the parade, had an early dinner, went back to Disney for their parade...rode Pirates, Pooh was down, saw Fantasmic, ran to the fireworks, then went on Nemo. We seriously hit just about every ride that I wanted to...other than Pixie Hollow.

Our waits were minimal at best....usually only around 5-10 minutes. It was a GREAT day!

ART is Anaheim Resort Transit.

I am surprised that someone chose to eat at Cpn Kidd's, we won't ever again. eww....

We were there also!! LOVED it, had a blast. :mickeyjum The decorations are fabulous. :santa: Here is a pic DS took as Chip and Dale was staring right at him....we were waiting to board IASW. :goodvibes

Glad you had fun, but I have to agree with everyone else about Captain Kidd's :rotfl2: I was told to stay away from there at all costs!

Captain Kidd's is a buffet/restaurant across the street (Harbor) from DL. It is nasty. Just gross. We actually ate there twice, once because we wanted to try it and DBF loves buffets, he was expecting something along the lines of Reno or Vegas apparently and CK's was nothing even similar. LOL Old, cold, greasy, yuck food. I had a salad and most of my lettuce was not edible, wilted or it had been too cold and was tranparent. The kids' meals were fine but nothing else. The next time we ate there we stayed at BWPPI and that's where we went to have our free continental breakfast. It was fine, but how badly can you mess up a CB? LOL CK is at the crosswalk next to the BWPPI.

Okay thanks. We won't venture out of the DLR, I don't think. Staying at GCH, so will just eat in the parks. Have Ariels's Grotto and Goofy's Kitchen booked. Will do counter service for the other meals. Thanks for the heads up!

we are here at DL this is our 4th day....and I agree dont go to Captins Kids....it wasnt that great.....:scared1:

The hot dogs at Toon town are not great either...the buns were hard, the pizza though was really good!

at Cali-adventure the food court....sorry dont remember the name ...its by the water ride.....and the plane....hanger....is really good and you get a lot for the price.....it was perfect for the pix parade....at 4:30pm we got our meals and found a spot up front for the parade.....my kids and Hubby went nuts over the parade....

My dad is a sucker for buffets. Some of the food was pretty bad.

I'm evesdropping on this thread. But since I'm here...
I have two kids - 2 & 4.9. We have a Sit & Stand and we use it for these types of outings - zoo, long mall days. It's a lifesaver. My older one is still too young to "work through" being tired. What I mean is that she still gets cranky and is prone to tantrums if she's beyond tired from a lot of walking. Your older child should be fine if you have the younger one in a sitting up position in the stroller. Space becomes an issue if you have the younger one in the recline, because it eats up the space allotted for the sit/stand platform.

Good luck.

Also eavesdropping here. I've got a 4 and 6 year old. At our stay at Hojos we brought our umbrella stroller and had our 6 year old walk. On short days he did fine. By the end of the week though he was getting tired (we did 4 days). Our strategy then was for him to walk from the hotel and then we rented a stroller in the park. That worked perfectly. The stroller in the park saved his legs and he could make the walk back home without a complaint.

Taste Pilots Grill? We loved it there, too. The Chili Fries were enough to feed both of us.
