The hotel we're thinking of staying at on our DL trip has fridges available upon request for an extra $10 a night. We're staying 7 nights and that would be an extra $70. My question is this.......with all the kids going to college right now everyone is running specials on the dorm fridges. I can get a little one for $65. Do you think it would be worth the hassle to take it with you? We're driving by the way so we would have the space for it. What do y'all think?

Since you are driving, I would not rent a fridge. You can either bring an ice cooler from home or buy an electric cooler.

I prefer ice coolers. They keep everything cold enough and it's not that much of a hassle to fill it up with ice once (or twice) a day. You probably already have one and the only cost would be the original bag of ice to get you started. Since it's the end of the camping season you might also be able to pick up an electric cooler on sale somewhere. It plugs into a 12V socket in your car (car lighter, etc) and many newer cars have more than just the one in the ashtray area. They also run off of regular household electricty (you might need an extra kit) so you can plug it in at your hotel too.
