ok girls,

well i have just had disney confirm i will hear from my co ordinator in 7 - 10 days - so excited!

Let me firstly say how very fortunate i feel to be having my dream wedding and cannot wait till i marry my gorgeous man next september.

My only issue at the moment is the timeline we have decided to go for:

2.30 - 3.30 ceremony WP

4.00 - 8.30 pre reception/reception Living Seas Epcot

8.30 - 9.30 DP UK Terrace

Now I know this looks great but I really want the usual speeches, cake cutting, first dance. then dinner and a little dancing. Im not sure but do you think 4 1/2 hours is enough to do all this?

Once the DP is over our wedding will pretty much be over by 10pm.

This sounds really ungrateful, i am probably fretting a little too much but i just dont want our day to be over in a rush.

I would love to hear any info on what you guys did before i speak to my planner.

thanks in advance x

4 1/2 hours seems like a very long reception to me! Are you giving yourself enough time between Ceremony and Reception for pictures and transportation?

oh ok that makes me feel better!

Thats what everyone keeps telling me but i just need to get my mind round it, any wedding i have been to go into the wee hours like 2am! this is a dream disney wedding and i know im doing something different.

our ceremony is at 2.30 - 3.00 so that gives us an hour before reception for pics and transport.

I think this is a cultural thing—UK wedding receptions go on much longer than US ones do. 4 1/2 hours is plenty of time for everything you want to do (we did it all in 3 and never felt rushed), but if you still prefer a longer event, talk to your consultant about your options.

Depending on what you're willing to pay and how flexible you are on your venues, s/he might have some options for you to have an extended reception. For instance, sometimes UK couples have their reception at a Grand Floridian ballroom, move out to the GF Marina for a Wishes dessert party, and then go back to the ballroom for another hour or two to finish the reception. But this may involve meeting your food and beverage minimums all over again, depending on the venue, so see what options they give you when you get your consultant.

Finishing by 10pm will be fine and if you and a few others are still up for a night out you could head over to Jellyrolls or Atlantic dance hall at the Boardwalk.

Our wedding was at the same time as yours and after the Dessert Party I was ready to go back to the room, get out of my dress have a night cap with some friends in the room and sleep! I thought it wouldn't seem enough but it was (I'm British too - but live in the US now).

Its a long day, don't forget the time at the begining for hair and makeup, we started ours at 10am, so it's a 12 hour day. Also as the previous poster stated when will you have the photo's taken, especially if you want some unique shots. Some people have a first look with their fiance before the ceremony. This gives you a chance to get some great shots in the resort or at another location (boardwalk, animal kingdom lodge etc) not just the staged shots at the WP or at the reception. As you are in the park for your reception you will be using Disney Photography right?

For a 2.30 ceremony the car will most likely pick up the groom at 1.30 and you at 2.00pm.

No offense, but it's ironic because as I was reading your time line, I was thinking "wow…that is a LONG wedding/reception"….

Every wedding I have ever been to was around 4 or 4 1/2 hours long and all of those things (speeches, cake etc.) were done. My wedding is this coming Sunday and we have the room for 5 hours and that 5 hours will include the ceremony and reception and we're having cake cutting, speeches, first dance, parents dances, a trick or treat song for the little kids and garter/bouquet toss.

Keep in mind, your guests are going to have to switch up locations several times. While that's probably not a big deal to you and your fiance and bridal party, it may be hard on some older people and guests with little kids. Much longer than 5 hours of actual wedding reception time is a bit long for the average wedding guest.

If you still feel like partying after the DP, gather up some friends and head on over to Jellyrolls or downtown.

Thanks girls for the response i feel much better now! i think its a scottish/uk thing, we like a good drink and party over here!

my main thing was i didnt want to feel rushed and you guys have put my mind at rest!

I can look forward to my dream wedding now, if i wanted to stay up all night i could have got married at home ha!

thanks again x

I agree with PP, you can also open an invitation to continue the party after the dessert, I know they have a few clubs somewhere there LOL
