The first time I saw these, I picked up the Mickey & Pooh sets. They're just so stinking cute! However, I'm having trouble using them. The openings are too narrow to use even the thinnest embossing pen I have, so using them with powders is out (heat embossing?).

I'm not happy with the way they turn out when I use the finest embossing tool either (dry embossing?). In order to get any kind of an image in most areas, I have to press down really hard...but then the paper/CS tears when I hit an area where 2 lines meet & the "track" is a little wider.

Has anyone used these successfully? Any tips? Or do I just have 2 really nice sets of charms to use on my pages? :confused3

Honestly....I bought them with the intention of using them as charms and page decor.... I have never gotten into embossing. But they are so cute! I bought WAAAY too many!.............P

Wish I could help you too! I bought some ummmmm just because and then I got a few as gifts...I just like having them!

I like having them too! I'm not sure I want to use them as charms just yet - in case I find another way to use them. KWIM?

I was thinking today about maybe trying them with chalk - once I start spending money again. Do you think that would work?

Have you tried using an embossing ink pad? I haven't tried it but may attempt it today. Just put your template down and push the ink pad down on top, then apply your powder and emboss. I think it would be an awesome delicate look if you could get it to work. I bought mine to use as charms too but I think I will try this and see what happens. Also if you have a Sizzix I think you could dry emboss them with that.

I wouldn't have thought about the embossing pad as it's so large. Hmmmm....

Alas, I have no Sizzix. :( DDIL has one, but I haven't seen her for a while. I keep asking her over to play scrapping with me, but she's pretty busy right now with her grad class. I keep hoping though. ;)

Yoo Hoo Deb! Did you know that AC Moore presently has the Sizzix on SALE.
As well as 8x11 cardstock for 7cents!
You were the one that enticed me to get the sizzix, (during the holidays and your excitement of shopping for your DDIL)and I really could not picture having to wait for someone to come and "play" to get me little fingers on it!
If you need some die cuts shapes for a layout ... give a holler!

La-la-la-la-la-la-la... I can't hear you. ;)

I will not spend, I will not spend, I will not spend, I will not spend... :rotfl:

Actually, I was out fixing someone's computer this afternoon & I have another appointment on Saturday. I might have to see if I can spend what I make on a Sizzix & a tag die. But then I'll still be w/o any other dies until Christmas....or until there's a major computer virus outbreak in the area! ;)

I'm so deluded.....I actually thought I'd get to use DDIL's Sizzix when I got it for her. It wouldn't have been so bad, but once she brought it over & let me use it & I found out how neat it was.......well.....

Thanks for the offer! Everyone here is so thoughtful! :teeth: I love this place! :grouphug:

Did you see the post about Costco having 300 sheets of 12x12 cardstock for $12.79? (20 colors)

But you didn't read that here! :confused3 :love2: :rotfl2:

OH MAN!!!! That's a LOT of paper!!! If DH wasn't at the doctors with DD8, I might be sneaking off to AC Moore! And maybe COSTCO!!

Off the subject, but my poor baby hasn't been feeling well, missed school today and we didn't want to wait until tomorrow to get her checked out.

:disrocks:

Ah, poor baby! I'm sorry she's not feeling well. :( Hopefully the doctor can give her something to make her feel better. My DD(13) has been feeling "off" sporadically for the past 2 weeks, but no real symptoms. Yesterday she started sneezing her head off, but the doctor still doesn't want to see her. I'm hoping she fights it off as she has a busy weekend coming up.

Ok i got the mickey and tinkerbell it is hard but what i did was lay the brass plate down first then i laid card stock on top [i dont have a light box ] and i just rubbed hard over the top of the paper with the embossing thing and i just rubbed i got in the small area no problem .Then when you are done flip over and there you go ..I then cut out mickey and put in the book ...I hope that helps .
