Mine Train Fast Pass...Unbelievable

We decided to take a last minute trip to Disney in August. Our 30 days out was last Friday. I have tried every single night at midnight or 1 am, whenever the system became available each night and I could not get even a single Mine Train Fast pass on any day for anyone in our party let alone all 4 of us. I have one day left to try for tonight at midnight, otherwise I guess we're not riding.

We go at least once a year and we really don't go ride crazy because we have been there so many times, so we usually our only priority is whatever is new.
I have heard from too many people that it is not worth a long stand by wait so as much as I would like to ride it, I'm not going to waste my time in stand by.

I honestly can't believe we couldn't get a FP for this at least one night staying up until midnight every day. :surfweb:

If you go late at night, close to park closing, the standby line usually isn't very long. In our experience the marked SB times were longer than the actual wait and the queue does have some things to do in it. We thought that the ride was better at night anyway. Have fun.

If you dont get any how about going at RD and heading directly to the mine train. We always go for RD and never wait more than 10 for our first ride without a fp. Thats what we are doing for soarin, riding standby at RD then using our fp later in the day.

Depends whether you really define it as a waste of time in standby. If it is a 2 hour wait for seven dwarves which you have said is the only priority ride on this trip as you've done everything else then I wouldn't class that as a waste of time. I would always wait 2hrs for a new experience but if it was a 30min wait for Jungle Cruise then I might skip it as done it before.

I always found it funny when people would go to a theme park (Alton Towers in UK) on a busy summer day, see there is a 1-2 hour queue for almost all the coasters so choose not to ride, then complain they didn't get on anything, when it was their choice not to get in the queue.

You are aware once your window is open, you can search at any time, correct? Once it was open at 30 days, it's open 24/7. In fact checking at midnight is probably the worst idea, because not many people are probably juggling around plans at that hour.

Try during the days multiple times. You don't need to stay up till midnight!

what worked for me - i failed to get 4 passes together. but one at a time, i was able to get 4 overlapping passes. once you have thme, you can keep looking for new times. i've got mine down to all within 15 minutes of the other. which means we have a 45 minute window to ride

good luck

I agree with the PP that suggested riding late night. My daughter and I were there earlier this month and got in line for the mine train at 11:45pm with a closing time of 12am. The posted wait time was 30mins but it only took about 15-20 mins. Good luck. I thought it was a fun ride.

Are you willing to do RD? We did twice and waited about 30 mins even though the standy by time was 90 mins.

OP - I had to jump thru hoops to grab a FP+ for the first day. same day as free dining released, it took hours to secure. Know there were many disappointed people that day.

That said, while the ride was cute, there is no way I'd spend a large portion of my day waiting in standby for a repeat ride.

Naturally, if you have children in your party and they want to experience it, you will be standing;).

good luck, keep checking for cancellations. We change our FP times frequently even when in the park.

Are you using the MDE app? For some reason, the Mine Train doesn't show up as a FP+ option on my app but it does show up as an option if I log into "mydisneyexperience.com" thru a browser.

I switched our park days for next week this morning and was able to get Mine Train FP+ for Tuesday (less than a week from today), using the full site and not the app!

THIS! We've been 3 times since FP+ rolled out and I've booked all of our fastpasses during the day. Haven't stayed up til midnight once to mess with it.

Late night is your best option. We were able to ride it twice with no FP+ during the last half hour of operation in early June on a non-EMH night. Keep in mind that the posted wait time is often greatly exaggerated in the evening.

This seems crazy to me. We're staying onsite, but we're 38 days out from our MK day and when I go in to change my 7DMT FP+, there are plenty of options available. I can't believe they're really getting snatched up that fast. Are you using the app or the website?

I am perplexed as to why FP is the only option. :confused3

If it's not worth the standby wait, why is it worth checking at midnight every night?

As others have said, go at rope drop or late at night.

If you're not willing to do either of these, it must not be very important.

We intend to ride SDMT. My fp window doesn't open until September. If I can't get FP, we will go at rope drop ....

That is a good point. Could someone be using an outdated version of the app? Some people don't download the updates. That might be the reason you can see it on the website, but not your app.

Great question! Why is it worth checking at midnight every night but not to get up early enough for rope drop?

I can understand not using the late night option. My kids can't stay up that late. However, we always do rope drop.

I agree with OP... all dates Aug 15-23 are showing 7DMT greyed out and unavailable for FP+ for me. Suspect hotel guests at 60 days prior have snapped all the inventory up.

We will have to try late and during parade/fireworks since wife's knee can't get her there fast enough from RD!

Me too - mine train is not available Aug 18 or 19th or 20th. And I was in the website version at 12:01 on day 30 and couldn't get it - must have been all taken up by on-site visitors who could get in at day 60.
