~*~ Mindyjoy's May 19 2012 Disneyland Wedding TR ~*~ Trip Report Has Begun!

I'm so so sorry girlie! I think you have a definite few keepers! Love the dumbo ones and the one of you guys holding hands under the arch kissing. And the last one!

I'm so jealous of all the photo-ops! I already told DF that if we end up in DisneyLand REGARDLESS we are doing a photo session!

Thanks girl! HEY, if you come to Disneyland on a weekend then I WILL TAKE YOUR PICTURES FOR YOU. I got a Canon Powershot, yeah it's pretty impressive ;) For payment I require one (1) churro. :rotfl:

I love your pictures, I think they came out great! Like everyone said, the Dumbo ones are really cute, but I think my favorite is the last one!

Awesome. I'll even buy you 2 churros if you do a good job! And hang out with you afterwards!! :rotfl: :rotfl:

I have some rather good news today, my photographer finally emailed me and all my hi-res photos are being sent to me via Dropbox today. I've got almost 200 photos so far and they are still trickling in. So I guess I'll have a busy weekend of sorting photos! I'll post the best of the best here :)

I so happy for you that you are finally getting the photos. I can't wait to see more.

Thanks everyone, I'm relieved to have some of my photos. I have about 250 photos now, but still a lot I'm missing. I haven't seen any come through the Dropbox today, but she is allegedly dropping off the CD of all photos to my parents house tomorrow so I'll see them all soon enough. I am going to Disneyland tomorrow and since I live in an apartment (so no front porch), she is going to drop them off at my parents house when she goes to visit her parents tomorrow (we went to school together so our parents live in the same city). Anyway, I'm going to go take a good look at the ones I have tonight. :surfweb:

Today I tried on some dresses! I went to a shop called R-Mine (famous for Kendra of Girls Next Door getting her dress there). I knew they were having a sample sale last weekend but I came down with the flu so I couldn't go! I went today and the sample sale was still going on. A consultant helped me pick out three dresses to try on. I was trying to stay within my budget of $1000, although I certainly am not too keen on spending that much on a sample dress.

I wasn't allowed to take any pictures of myself in the dresses, sadly.

The first one was Pronovias - Legado. I picked this one because it had some sparkly bits that are kind of hard to see in the picture.

I thought this was very pretty although it had some issues with the zipper. I liked the rouching, the champagne-esque color, and I loved the touches of sparkle, and the price was good - $690! Still, I felt it was missing something, it just wasn't the dress for me.

Next was Rivini - Fifteen. Pretty, but after wearing the first one with the sparkles, this one didn't do anything for me. And for $1,100, this was not the dress for me.

The third dress I loved! I didn't LOVE LOVE LOVE it, but I was surprised at how much I liked it. Rosa Clara - Olga.

First of all, the pictures do not do this dress justice! This dress looks fabulous on a person with a REAL figure. The only negative was that I was a little too b**balicious in this dress. I don't mind so much but we don't want to give grandma a heart attack. I loved the little bow detail and I loved the layers at the bottom. It's really difficult to see from the picture how pretty the bottom of the dress is. It has layers of different types of fabric. This was the first dress I've tried on that I didn't want to take off!!!!

Negatives? Well, the b**balicious factor (easily covered up with a bit of lace or something), the mermaid style was a little too low for me, comparable to the Ariel dress, and the dress was BRIGHT WHITE although surprisingly I didn't seem to mind too much. Yes yes yes, you read correctly, I *might* not be as opposed to wearing white as I once was. :rotfl:

Oh yeah, one other HUGE negative. The tag on the dress read $2195. Silly me, I assumed this was the regular price. NO, THIS WAS THE SAMPLE PRICE, AAAAAAARGH! :scared1: My consultant talked to Armine the owner, and she said she could bring it down closer to $1700. Still too much for me. :sad2: So I left the shop a little brokenhearted but at least I found a style that I really love!

I also stopped at the craft shop and attempted to make my own bridal dress hanger a la PixieDust1969's DIY tutorial. I'm not super happy with the way it turned out but I have lots of wire left over to try again. It actually photographs much better than it looks in person.

I had a little incident with the pliers since I apparently don't know my own Hulk strength and snapped the wire, so I taped it. That's why there's a space between the heart and Tim.

DF told me he thinks it looks really good, but that's only because he hasn't see the professional ones! What do you guys think?

I love those dresses you tried on! :lovestruc I'm glad you got a good idea of what kind of style you would want now, hopefully it'll make the hunt a little easier.

Can't wait to see more epics!!!

Oh man! I'm so bummed out about that last dress because I love it as well! Wah! =[ Maybe it'll work out anyway! Who knows!

I can't wait to see your pictures girlie!

And your dang Hulk strength! ha. That's totally something that I would do too!! hehe. Woopsss!! =]

I do really like the third dress, but that's way to expensive! Hopefully you'll find something similar, but more reasonable. I love the style though. And you're right, they always have the pictures of the dresses on these stick thin models, when they usually look much better on a person who actually has curves!

I think your hanger looks great! I don't think I'd be able to do such a good job.

Thanks, yeah, I liked the dress on the hanger but was still surprised at how much I loved it when I put it on!

Hahaha, yeah who knew I could snap wires?? RRAAAAWWWWWRRRR!

Aww, thanks so much. I'm sure you could do it fine, but it is as difficult as it looks, haha!

Today DF and I went to Disneyland, but before I get to that, here's the latest on my e-pics saga. As I posted previously, my photographer told me she would drop off the disc at my parent's home today, WELL GUESS WHAT, it's now 9:30pm and no disc. I texted my mom at around 5pm to see if it was there and she said she was checking the porch every couple of hours and no disc. So I sent a text to my photographer then, and again at 8:30pm and no response. I suppose I shouldn't be surprised but I am. I don't know why I keep falling for the BS she keeps feeding me. I'm so mad.

Anyway ...

We went to Disney to see what our venue would look like at this time next year (hopefully!!!)

Isn't it lovely in full bloom??? :lovestruc

I also wanted to try to get hotel keys to make STD magnets. We had breakfast at Steakhouse 55 so after we went to Guest Services at the Disneyland Hotel. The CM had to call a manager who said the answer was NO, they could not give me any keys because they are inventoried. :sad2:

DF suggested we try another hotel but I thought, what's the point, they are just going to ask the same manager who will say no, but DF said maybe we could try asking at the registration desk verses guest services, so we crossed the street to Grand Californian to try there, but it was check-out time and it was MADNESS in the lobby. So we decided to go into the parks and check again on our way out. We hit up Soarin' and Midway Mania in DCA, and then Matterhorn and Big Thunder in Disneyland. After getting lunch at Hungry Bear (major improvement on the new menu there), we went back to GCH and got in line for the registration desk. They told me I needed to ask at Guest Services and I thought, "ah crud." So we go over to Guest Services and I explain my project and ask if I can have some keys. The woman immediately turned around and opened a cabinet and DF and I looked at each other and thought, "SWEET!!!!!" Then she turns back around and hands me .... TWO KEYS. :lmao: She says, "I can give you a couple, is that enough?" and I was like, welllllll we kind of need around 50. DF chimes in that we are willing to pay for them if that's what it takes. She says, "oooh, I would need to ask a manager." Ah crud. So yeah, you guessed it, they said no. We grabbed the two keys before she could take them back, thanked her for her time, and walked out. :rotfl:

5749731554_d9576f83bc.jpg

So long story short: Save the Date = FAIL.

DF said we can scan the key and make our own. I looked up the price of plastic business cards and they are like $80 for 50 of them. A bit more than I wanted to spend. We can get the image printed on regular business cards and then I can slap a magnet on the back for way cheap, but then will people get that they are hotel keys? :confused3 So then DF said we should just design our own magnet and forget the hotel key idea.

Sigh. I'm so bummed the hotel key plan didn't work.

To cheer myself up I stopped at Build-a-Bear to see if they had a graduation outfit I could get for my Hello Kitty that I made at Build-a-Bear for my birthday last year. They did! So at least that went my way today.

5748542585_1f26b1fd09.jpg

I'm not participating in my graduation but at least HK looks the part. :goodvibes

Awh! I'm sorry for the fail on your save the dates that was such a cute idea! Too bad "the man" always has to get in the way, and I'm also sorry about your photographer, I can't believe she'd be so unreliable. Either way Congrats on HK graduation!:thumbsup2

I'm so sorry about your photograher's drama!! I hope that you get your CD soon and will be able to look through all your pics!!

I love them so far! I wish WDW would allow pics inside the parks... maybe one day :rotfl: Or I'll just have to make a trip up there and do it someday:goodvibes

The venue looks gorgeous! I'm so excited for you! =]

And as far as your photographer goes I seriously would sit and stake out her house. Thats complete BS. I'm so so sorry.

And yay for HK! She looks adorbs!

I love the first and the third dress. I am a firm believer that you will instantly know when you have found the perfect dress. This happened to me both for my actual wedding and also for the vow renewal. I just knew that this was the dress for me and did not want to look at any others after this.

I am sorry that your STD plan did not work out. I like the idea of just having this printed onto normal card stock and turning it into a magnet. Are you familiar with the Xyron Creative Station? I got one for my Med cruise last year to make magnets. One of the cartridges that they do laminates the front and puts a magnet on the back. I have my graphics printed on glossy photo paper and then run them through my Xyron. This way they are quite durable and they look professional.

I love the photo of your venue.

Corinna

Sorry your STD idea didn't work out! I think that would've been very cute, but I think you could still make it work with the business cards/magnets. I think most people would get it!
