Mind if I ask a question?

It's a resteraunt that has good wings. Let's not get cray-zay.

None of us have said that we have a problem with the restaurant. We are objecting to YOUNG children wearing advertisements for a restaurant that has an age limit for a reason.

I was at Gay Days last year and I don't recall seeing anything offensive with the exception of the "This is my 'O' face" shirt. And the only reason I remember that one is because I had to explain to my eight year old son what an "O" face was. :scared1: I ended up telling DS that an "O" face was the face one made when going down the big hill on a roller coaster, which then caused DS to make all sorts of weird faces on the ride photos and announcing to all who would listen that he had made the best "O" face ever...

I would have said it was for overstock.com, their commercials are all about the big O. :confused3

:lmao: thank you, I needed that.

I've seen Childrens.....YES CHILDRENS! birthday parties there! :sad2:

:sad2:

I know that the general public hasn't had to deal directly with the trauma that early sexualization creates, but, once you have it changes the way you view the world. There are so many damaged children, teens and adults out there. I wish I could do more than respond after the fact.

I guess I'm just not a negative person. I hardly ever share what was wrong with a trip, or a day, or an encounter as much as I try to find the positive and share that. I was there for Gay Days this year, I didn't scrutinize everyone's shirt or their behavior...GAY OR STRAIGHT.

As Jamie pointed out, it's very hard to take someones "observations" regarding Gay Days seriously when they have such a low post count. (and mind you...they haven't come back).

Jeez - I'm sorry I don't post here more often. I didn't realize that having a high post count means you have credibility here. I apologize for having a life outside of this forum. Have a nice day.

I think you'll find we all lead quite full lives
outside this forum ... thank you.

Don't let the door hit ya on the way OUT.:flower3:

This may not work over the internet, but this discussion reminded me a visitor (to Canada) from Japan. She wanted to go to this famous restaurant she had heard of called "Who - TERS" (try to say Hooters with a French accent, it kinda sounded like "whocares" with a T instead of C). She had heard that it was a very good, rather high class place. After much discussion and finally getting her to write out the name, we figured out she meant "Hooters". I did point out the one we have in the city, but she declined to go.

ETA - I've not been to WDW during Gay Days, but I happened to be in DL during theirs. Other than the fact that the park was more crowded than it would normally be, it was no different than any other visit.

Sorry, but there are so many crazy responses here I hardly know where to start.

First, Hooters is just a restaurant with a gimmick and nothing more. I doubt that those most vocal about Hooters have ever been to a Hooters. The waitresses are just cute young gals in t-shirts and shorts. I've never heard of an age limit in any U.S. location. You don't have to be big chested to work there, many of the waitresses are not, they just have these fun personalities. There is nothing at all that sexualizes women in the restaurants.

Second, instead of people saying "gee it's too bad you were exposed to inappropriate t-shirts" (which you know are there if you've ever been to a Gay Days, along with inappropriate behavior) there was a wailing and gnashing of teeth, "straight people do it too!" Everybody else does it is never a justification.

Third, the way to sway public opinion in favor of supporting gay civil rights is not to get in people's faces and go out of your way to offend or shock them. I had the displeasure of being on Pirates with a boat of about half gay and half families. The gay men who were all together were loud and disruptive the entire ride, from loud sexual jokes at the characters to singing a lewd version of the song. In the 43 years I've been riding Pirates, I've never, ever had that experience on a day that wasn't Gay Day and I've seen on Gay Day three separate times. And don't get me started on what I observed on Small World.

It is wrong to wear offensive, sexually charged t-shirts at any time. "I got crabs from Dirty D1ck's" isn't dirty unless you have a dirty mind as everyone understands Dirty D1ck's is a crab restaurant.

I think the burden is even higher for the gay community. How about holding a Gay Days and just dress the way you do every day and shock people with how normal and ordinary the gay community is.

You're right the responses ARE crazy. Especially yours.

Or it generally means the "low count poster" generally is just here to try to stir up trouble. And yeah, with 2 kids, a full time job and other life I too have a full life. I just enjoy coming here with other people that get it. If you don't get it, that's fine, there are plenty of other places for you to post.

Feel free to show me the error of my ways.

You think offensive t-shirts are okay?

Is Hooters some kind of a strip club?

Disrupting a ride and ruining the experience for other guests is fine? Especially when there are lewd jokes in the presence of children?

Which of these am I off base on?

Aloha!
Both hello and good bye.
Good word!
