I got tickets to 2 tapings of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire with Meridith Viera when we're there in January. We love the WWTBAM-PI attraction, so I know my DD6 is going to be really thrilled to go to an actual taping of the show. Have any of you done this before? I'm wondering what to expect, how long we'll be in there (it's 2 shows taped at a time), etc.

Not that it matters to us since we have park hopper tickets for the whole stay, but the tickets to the taping (which were free) also include MGM Studios admission and parking. I thought that was pretty cool.

We went last january..it took a copule hours for the taping i believe---we got tickets to pleasure island at the end--it was fun, im glad we did it, but i like playing along better!

What days are these tapings? I'll be so disappointed if we can't go to WWTBAM!

The Syndicated WWTBAM show will be taping at the WWTBAM-PI! attraction at Disney-MGM Studios from January 12th-15th. Saturday, January 14th, they will be taping Walk In and Win Week where you can audition in front of Associate Producers of the show for a chance to sit in the Hot Seat and play for the cash without taking the usual written examination.

Although they will only be taping from January 12th-15th, there likely could be a couple of days before and after that date to adjust things for the tapings and back to the normal attraction. Not sure on how much time they will need for that.

What cracks me up personally is that even though I'm auditioning on the 14th, I'm still kind of bummed out that Play It! is going to be down while we're there. I realize this is probably a good problem to have that others would envy, but knowing that I won't get to the Hot Seat unless I get on the *actual show* makes me sad. LOL. No pressure. ;)

And it also makes me confused because generally I don't have to plan an MGM itinerary for us- we hit every show at Play It! until one or both of us get to the Hot Seat, then we hit a couple of the shows and head out for Epcot.

We can't ride anything other than the Great Movie Ride and the Backlot tour at MGM, for various reasons, so if I don't make the cut, I'm seriously thinking we'll probably just go straight to another park. It would be weird to have a WDW trip without MGM, but no Play It! is a serious deal breaker for us.

Darn. ;)

If you're interested, look for the thread named "Who Wants To Be a Millionaire - Walk In and Win Week" which was started by me on 11/28.

Just means that it will take your family longer to catch up to my family in million point wins.

Gee, that sounds like somebody else I know. Now who would that be?

You will not have this problem. You will be spending all day at MGM waiting for your number to be called to take your spot in the Hot Seat. You will then win big bucks. You will use part of that money to build a shrine to me as the muse that inspired you to audition for the show. :rotfl:

Can you tell I'm in a strange mood today? :confused3

I tried the Walk-In and Win thing last year.

I walked from the Boardwalk about 4:30 in the morning and was met by a security guard at the entrance to the parking lot. About 8 other people came in this way. At exactly 6:30 they opened the parking plaza booths and started letting cars come in. We were allowed to walk to the front of the parking lot at the same time. We were given wristbands with a number on it. (I was #5) and an information sheet to fill out. As soon as they had about 30 folks gathered up, we were walked into the Indiana Jones theatre to wait until everyone gathered. At about 7:00, they started getting the crowd excited and then started called numbers. They called out 320 numbers out of about 1800 folks that showed up. (FYI, they called out #1 and #3, but I didn't get called). After the number calling was over, those folks were taken somewhere for their interviews and were allowed to call family and let them know their number had been called. They also gave the producers names of family members that they wanted in the audience that day. Everyone else was directed to a table to get tickets for Saturday or Sunday tapings. I picked up a couple of tickets for Sunday tapings. It was now after 9am and we were allowed to stay in the park.

I decided to go back to my resort as I had been up since 2:30 am and had been upgraded to a 1-bedroom villa at the Boardwalk, so I went and soaked in that Jacuzzi Tub some more.

I did go to a taping Sunday. It was lot's of fun.

I'm not going this year as they announced this AFTER the 60-day window for Passholder Best Rate, and I'm not going to stay at an Epcot resort without a Passholder discount. I would have considered staying at a Value, then just taking the last PI bus to Boardwalk and getting comfy on a bench at the walkway until the security guard would let us in, but they are all booked up.

Considering my clan isn't even on the board yet for that one, we'll have to go back to the World a lot sooner to make that happen. Positive thinking, I already told DH if I win anything, we're going back to relax and enjoy the parks, not the parking lot. ;) In any case, we've already decided that whatever happens, we'll either be celebrating or drowning our sorrows at the Adventurer's Club that night.

:rolleyes1 Nah, couldn't be. ;) I have no idea who you mean. *looks innocent*

LOL. Do you want the lifesized balsawood carving bedecked in rhinestones, or perhaps glitter? I've got a glue gun, I can make that happen for you. ;)

You and me both, although admittedly I've been in a strange mood for a couple of weeks now.
