We'll be on the dining plan for the first time on our upcoming trip. So we'll be doing more counter service meals than we've done in the past. Looking at the menu's from allears.net, I've noticed a lot of ice cream choices for dessert on the kids' menu. Do they offer alternates for those with milk allergies esp. from counter service?

I don't worry with our tables services meals since the chef has come to our table in the past to talk about choices or alternates for those with food allergies. Ohanas' went above & beyond accomodating us last year, as the chef went to the adjoining restaurant and made DS a "special steak". Normally, they use butter on the steaks on skewers. He came back & gave a Filet Mignon steak for DS. Dessert was no problem since they subbed a rice dream "ice cream" instead of the regular dessert. Now that's customer service!:thumbsup2

I would suggest going to the disABILITIES Forum and look at Post #3 of the disABILITIES FAQs. There is a large section in that post dealing with special dietary needs, as well as many related links. You can get directly to the disABILITIES FAQs by following the link in my signature.

This is a very common topic of discussion in the disABILITIES Forum.

Thanks for the link! I never considered food allergies a disability and have never browsed that forum.

My son has a milk allergey too. Most of the TS places have rice dream that they will give you on request. My son loved it. He never really gets to eat ice cream out and this was a real treat for him. He specifically had it at Crystal Palace and Liberty Tree, but I think if the restaurant has ice cream for kids anyways they will have the rice dream. Also read that Beaches and Cream actually serves rice dream as well so you can go there and get them a" real" sundae.

Great to know about Beaches and Cream since we'll be staying at Beach Club. The sundaes look so good & glad they have an alternate for DS as well.
