This is big ol lineman's mom again.
I understand what y'all are saying. However, I also understand what my DS is trying to say. He wants to see different places. Truly, until you have been stationed at Goodfellow, you don't understand how dang depressing it can be. He just wants to get out and "see the world". His whole military brat life has been spent in Texas and Louisiana. That's it. When you know other "brats", and they have seen and been places, like Germany, you feel like you are missing out. Right now, my DH is in Korea. And even though it is not a garden spot, it would be nice to see where he is. We even tried for Iceland. (yes, really)
I'm not trying to be mean, I just want others to understand him a bit more. I wouldn't mind going overseas. It could be a once in a lifetime thing. He is getting ready to turn 17 and we are looking at different colleges.
