My mom went to her base MWR office and got a list of the Disney ticket prices. The prices are the same as going through Disney. ??? I thought there was a Military Salute park hopper ticket for $169. Has anyone gotten that ticket recently at their base?

Thanks,

VP

I am not eligible for the Salutes so I can't speak to them, but when I compare regular ticket prices with the MWR ones, there is always a small discount on them--plus there's no tax. Perhaps it depends on the MWR.

Last June my uncle went to his base to purchase tickets for my two cousins and the price was the normal gate price for a 4-day hopper w/ no extras. I thought it was strange but he insisted that was all they offered. When we went to WDW, we intended to upgrade my cousins tickets with the extras. My uncle didn't go so my two cousins just provided their military-issued IDs and upon inspection of the voucher, guest relations (at the International Gateway) said we overpaid for the tickets even after the upgrade so they refunded the balance onto a gift card.

On the WDW web site it does list the $169 offer you are referring to under special offers, but it says to contact your military instillation for more info and to purchase. Maybe she can print out a screen shot and take it in or talk to a manager?

She may have to ask for the military salute tickets specifically. She may also not qualify for them. Is she active duty or spouse of active duty, or retired or spouse of retired service member? I know the salute tickets have much more strict rules than the military "discount" tickets which aren't very discounted. Have her go back to MWR and ask them specifically for the salute tickets.

DH and I bought tickets under this year's (2013-2014) Armed Forces Salute. It *is* still in effect for this year, at the $169 price. I don't know how big of a base she is at, but it's possible that not every MWR is selling the tickets. If she can't get them at her base, they are available for purchase at Shades of Green (which then have to be activated at a ticket window before entering a park). You do not have to be staying at Shades to buy them there. They are also available at the park ticket windows, but there she would have to pay sales tax (no tax @ Shades of Green).

The ticket price list from our MWR office lists their regular discounted ticket prices and somewhere in smaller letters it has the military salute offer. I can see where it would be confusing if you didn't know exactly what you were looking for. They should have the right tickets if she asks for them.

Check this post for detailed information about the Armed Forces Salute tickets:

If not eligible three through ten day tickets should be available at the MWR/ITT office for a small discount. but also the 6.5% sales tax is not added to tickets sold on a military base. If you go to www.shadesofgreen.org you can see the prices that Sog at WDW sells tickets for.

Actually they look the same-no tax through military though. Of course you can get up to a 10 day ticket(if you stay more than 4 days it may be cheaper this way)...of course if you do stay longer-book a room at a Disney property and get tickets through disney if free dining becomes available for your stay, it'd probably be worth paying the cost of a regular room rate(not military dicounted-to get free dining which may end up a bigger savings than the room discount). its al crazy, but I found if i pay an extra 100 for tickets from disney instead of military, and full price for my room(ignore the $900 military discount), free dining would still end up saving us $500 more than the supposedly cheaper military tickets and discounted room with a dining plan. there are a lot of factors, so check into them all to save the most. Happy planning

not all ITTs will offer the voucher for the Salute to Heroes special pricing. and if they do they tend to be listed separately. she will need to call and ask if they specifically do provide them( almost all do make you pre order ahead of time as they do not keep stock on hand)

I had to order mine through the ITT office on base. I was told it could take up to 14 days to receive them. It has been a week since I ordered them.

Is your mom going to WDW with you? If they asked and she isn't, they wouldn't have sold her the salute tickets, because in order to activate them, you would have to have the Active Duty/Retired Service Member/Spouse with you the first time you enter the parks.

Just want to point out that this thread is from November and the op has likely figured out the ticketing issue by now
