We have gone to Disney many many times but each trip still requires research!!

I am hoping somebody can answer this for me! We are going December 2019. I know far away! But, we need to book an RV spot at Fort Wilderness as soon as it opens up because the spots go fast (especially Christmas time). When we book we would like to know exactly (as much as we can) what we want so we can not make changes and the price stays the same. That will actually be August 1st! coming up!

We usually use the Armed Forces tickets but we would like more days this trip. (I know they could be gone that year, just assuming right now). My parents will be older and really 4-5 days will be enough for them. My husband is the military person. If we got my parents the armed forces tickets, would they allow them to use them if my husband does not use one? I was thinking for us we would go on base and just buy the 8 day magic your way through the base (saves a little). If he has the MYW base and they have the armed forces, do you think that would be ok?

Also, this new expiration date stinks! If we buy the tickets through the base and could not go for a major reason, they would expire? That scares me. What is the exact story on that?

Last, they will still allow you to book as a package without tickets if you are military right? We would like to add counter service and make it a package but buy our tickets on base. We have done that in the past.

Thank you!
Carrie

You can still book a ticketless package, but I think you can only do it over the phone. This year's salute tickets expire on December 19, so I would assume if the program continues that Disney would have a similar expiration date for next year's tickets. If something comes up and you can't use your tickets before they expire, you could upgrade them to an annual pass, but obviously, that would cost a good bit of money. I'd also like to note that if you are planning the trip for late December, you might not be able to use Salute tickets as the expiration has typically been around December 19 the past couple years with the next year's tickets not able to be used until Jan 1.

In regards to the separate ticket types, I'm not totally sure. The wording of the Salute promotion seems to indicate that either he or you would have to use a Salute ticket in order to activate them for anyone else... However, I know that annual passholders are able to just buy Salute tickets for their family while using their annual pass to get themselves in, as long as they are physically present to activate the Salute tickets. My hunch would be that you two could get MYW tickets for you and Salute tickets for the rest of your group as long as you or DH is there to activate the Salute tickets and you will be using another kind of ticket to enter the parks.

MYW tickets do now have an expiration date. However, they will not lose the value. If you are unable to use the tickets before they expire, you will be able to update them in the future by paying the difference since the expiration date.

Anybody can book a ticketless package (room + dining). It must be done by phone.

I can’t answer about the military tickets.

Enjoy your vacation!
