Hello- we will be purchasing our Universal tickets on base, but they only have 3 day tickets. Will we be able to upgrade them at the park? Will we have to pay the difference in what we paid to the gate price, thus canceling out any savings we got? Any insight will be appreciated!

You can upgrade but they will charge you all taxes. Not just the ones for the upgrade but the taxes you saved on by purchasing on base.

Our 3 day tickets are $169 through mwr but they also have 14 day 3 park tickets for $180. Does your program offer that? If not I think UT has them for $200. It's a great deal if you're going to be there longer...otherwise yes, you will pay the difference at the gate from what you paid and the current price at Universal.

Would it be the difference in what she paid at the military base or would it be the difference in what it would cost at the gate? So, for now, forget the tax... is it this (I'm making up numbers):

$300 (for annual pass we'll say) - $100 (military three day ticket cost) = $200 difference has to pay OR

$300 (for annual pass) - $200 (three day ticket at gate) = $100 difference has to pay (so, you still get SOME savings for being military)

A universal does not price bridge like Disney does. you pay the difference between what you paid and the ticket upgrade. Universal can tell the price you paid based on the barcode.

And if you did not pay tax on base, they will charge you all the tax when you upgrade.

Thanks everyone -- that helps me too... I got 4-day tickets at Ft. Leavenworth and was thinking about getting one AP if the APH discount was a lot less than the MMR rate I got. Good info. Now I have to do math when the time comes.

Remember, with Preferred and Premier APs, you get free parking at the parking garages ($17/day). Power Pass has no free parking.
