Military ticket activation question

I have a question about activating regular military discount tickets. Do we all need to visit the same park on our first day to activate the tickets?

Our family member purchased discount tickets from a military base (not the Salute discount). None of us have park hoppers, so we can only do one park/day.

We would like to just meet at an activation location, then be on our separate ways to other parks that day (them to HS, us to EPCOT).

I looked here, but don't see any info on activation for regular military discount tickets:

There is no activation for Military discount tickets. Activation is ONLY for the Armed Forces salute "Vouchers".

I would suggest going to Guest relations at DTD the night before if possible. When we activated ours at DTD, they wanted to see ID from each of us in order to activate them. I'm not sure if this was just that CM, or if it is what they always do.

Regular Disney MYW tickets with the military discount are the same tickets that civilians purchase to enter the theme parks. The military discount you receive basically reflects the sales tax exemption on the purchase. The tickets are already active when purchased. They don't need to be activated in any additional way.

The reason that the AFS (Salute) tickets need to be activated with ID by the actual military member (or spouse) is because they are steeply discounted. If these tickets were not controlled, it could lead to black market sales and possible cancellation of the program.

I would suggest going to Guest relations at DTD the night before if possible. When we activated ours at DTD, they wanted to see ID from each of us in order to activate them. I'm not sure if this was just that CM, or if it is what they always do.

As other PPs pointed out, activation is only required for the Armed Forces Salute tickets (the 4 day park hoppers that are $177 for 2014-2015).

For those who *are* using the AFS tickets, it is not always required for every person in the party to be present. We arrived at WDW on Friday, Nov. 7th with AFS tickets. The 3rd person in our party had arrived before us, was staying at a different hotel - we agreed to meet at MK to activate our tickets and then enter.

It was only DH and I (DH is the MM) at the Guest Relations window. They asked for DH's ID, and then had us write down all of our party's names and birthdays on a notepad. We specifically asked about getting the 3rd person's ticket activated. The CM said it was not necessary, that she would just give us an RFID Card ticket for her and that the 3rd person could take the RFID ticket to a window and get it linked to her MB when she arrived.

Our friend ended up arriving before we were finished with our transaction, so we just gave the CM the magicband then and she linked it to the MB no problem. She did not ask for our 3rd person's ID either.

We've experienced similar transactions on previous trips with AFS tickets as well.

these type of tickets DO NOT need activation. only the Salute to Heroes tickets do.

That makes sense, thanks. The only other military discount tickets we've had are the Stars and Stripes, which is like MYW but again you can only get them at SOG so they would be activated there on purchase also. Now I know
