Military send-off ceremony question?

If you are in the military, and going to watch other military friends during a send off ceremony on a local common, are you supposed to/have to wear your uniform? Optional?

We have other plans while in the area & civilian clothes would work better.
 
I would think the military member would know via the "grapevine" what was the expected uniform. (What are the other military guests wearing?) Honestly, whether or not one has plans that would be better in civilian clothes really isn't an issue. One can always change after. :thumbsup2
 
It took a bit of asking around, but he finally found out ACU's.

I would have thought off-duty your option too.
And I would have thought it would be something that he would have / should have known or would be easier to find out.
