To buy these tickets, do you have to go to a ticket booth at a main park, or do the Disney resorts sell them onsite? I was certain I would have to go to the TTC on my first night to buy them, but my DH reminded me that the Contemporary had a counter inside where one could buy park passes...I'm not talking about the Shades of Green ones, I mean the $99 Disney sponsored ones. Thanks much!!!

From what I understand, you must go to the main ticket window at the park with your ID/orders to get your military salute tickets. For Seaworld, you must print the form off the computer (or get it from ITR) and present it with your military ID or orders. For Universal, you must also present your orders/ID at the main ticket window.
Hope this helps!

That's what I thought. No biggee since we can just hop on the monorail to the TTC. And I have my print out all ready to go for SeaWorld! :D

Have a wonderful time! Are you staying in the Contemporary?

Blessings,

Yes, it will be our second time this year- just can't get enough of WDW, especially with the Shades of Green discount, and the added bonus of the military salute tickets!

HI there, Alice28,
since you have stayed there... I have a few questions!

1) How deep is the pool, and do you know the hours?
2) How are the rooms? Did you like the resort?
3) Did you go to the Shades of Green store at the resort? Can you buy tee shirts there?
4) Did you like the food court?

Thanks!
Jeanne

1) How deep is the pool, and do you know the hours?

When we were there, the main pool was being rehabbed...my DH swam in the Bay Pool & it's rather deep I believe. Check www.wdwig.com for more info about the pool. Look under resorts and then under Contemporary.

2) How are the rooms? Did you like the resort?

The rooms are HUGE! There were 4 of us- me, DH, DS5 & DS2 (well, he was twenty months at the time). We had room to spare, even with the fridge plugged in, the pak and play set up, and a stroller. The closet was big enough to hang clothes, store suitcases and the stroller. The bathroom is very nice- double sinks and a tub in one space, and a toilet and vanity counter in a small alcove. The decor is a bit funky, but I kinda liked it since I was expecting it. We liked the resort very much- it certainly isn't as "themey" as the other resorts, but we loved being on the monorail, loved being able to WALK to the MK, loved the shops and restaurants, and it was just a lively place to be.

3) Did you go to the Shades of Green store at the resort? Can you buy tee shirts there?

Yes, we went to the store to buy our park hoppers and you could buy t-shirts and other SoG merchandise there.

4) Did you like the food court?

Yes. We used it many, many times. We probably ate 3 meals there, usually chicken strips and sandwiches from the refrigerator. They also had a nice assortment of salads, fruit, breads (bagels, muffins), soft serve ice cream, pizza, burgers, hot dogs, candy, etc. Plus you can get a Mickey ice cream bar! We got the refillable mugs and found them to be totally worth the $11 price. We were there for 9 nights, and definitely used our share of coffee and soda. You can view the menu of the food and fun center at www.wdwig.com under menus and click resorts. (I love this site!!) My DS5 loved the fact you could refill the mugs with cherry Icee drink. Several other perks about the Food n Fun Center- there is a microwave and a toaster you can use in the dining area- if you bring microwave popcorn from home or poptarts- feel free to use these appliances. There is a decent toppings bar for your burgers and sandwiches- enough to make a little salad out of it. And, it took me a day or two to notice this, by the condiment area there is a small fridge- there are lemons, cream cheese, dressings, etc in there...nice touch for your iced tea, bagels, etc. I had lemonless iced tea the first time or two and was delighted when I found the fridge.

Hope this helps! You will have a blast!

Thanks so much for the info. We are so excited about going!
What branch of service are you?

Right now DH is in the Oregon Nat'l Guard/Army reserves. He was with the USMC for 7 years. How 'bout you?

We are going to WDW in Oct thanks to the military special and I understand we must buy our tickets at the TTC. What are the hours of the ticket windows? We will arrive late afternoon/early evening on a Sunday and just wondering if we can purchase our tickets then so we will be ready to hit the parks first thing on Monday...Or we will have to wait and purchase on Monday morning?

Also does the active duty army soldier need orders or should we just bring a copy to be on the safe side? Received two different answers from CMs at WDW so we will probably bring a copy just to be safe.

Alice28 - my DH is in the NY Air National Guard - activated in March under Title 10 for the Iraqi War. He also did 5 years Active Air Force. He will have 20 years in January.

Mom24/7 If your DH (or you) are active duty, I don't know for sure, but be safe and take a copy with you if you have them.
I think you can buy your tickets on the Sunday you arrive.
Are you staying at the Contemporary? I will let you know how it is when we get back. :D

Hope you have a blessed trip... we can't wait to go!!

I would definitely bring a copy of his orders, just to be on the safe side. :)

We are staying at the All Star Sports...We have a 3 yr old and almost 5 month old so we wanted to stay at WDW cheap. I wanted to stay at the Movies (Matthew is a huge Buzz Lightyear fan) but they did not have any rooms availible at the military discount rate. Anyway I think my 3 year old will like the Sports. The military special discount through WDW was cheaper than SOG. $66 a night, includes the tax, in October. i think the special comes to 40% off rack rate according to the CM. i don't figure I can get much cheaper on-site. Had it just been me and my soldier, I would have "splurged" on the Contemporary or one of the fancier hotels but for a family trip this will be perfect. (my parents and 3 yr old nephew are going with us)

I can't wait until our trip. I frequent this board and several other disney sites on an almost daily basis. My son loves this one because he likes all the pictures/icons/smilies on the screen. He names off all the characters when he sees them....He is ready to go to Disney World too....we watch our planning video every couple of days.

Mom24/7- I hope you have a fantastic time. How long til you go? I think your 3 year old will like the Sports too..have fun!

We went in Jun 02, we purchased our tickets at the ticket window at the Magic Kingdom. You can buy them at any park, not just the TTC. As an active duty member all you need is your ID card, no orders required for active duty members.

I can't find the form for Sea World to get the Military Salute tickets that was mentioned earlier in the post. Can someone direct me or attach a link? Thanks!

I am curious. We are headed to DisneyWorld for our first time in Sept/Oct. We are going to use the $99.00 military 5 day pass. Can anyone tell me how that works? Is it a 5 day park hopper pass? Can we only do one park a day? Or if you go into a park one morning and another in the evening does it count as one day or two? Just want to make sure I plan well. Any help is appreciatted.

Does anyone know if you must use the military pass for 5 consecutive days - or can you go to a park for 2 days, take a day or 2 off, and then return for 3 days?

Thanks in advance!
