I'd like to have the convenience of just scanning the band instead of carrying around my park ticket. Does anyone know if I can have my military salute ticket added to a magic band? Everything I've read says no but the info is a few months old.

I called WDW and they said yes, but I was wondering if anyone has actually done it.

Thanks.

I have done it twice! I will say that it was a tiny bit of a pain since I had to go to customer service when I got there and they had to do it for me but it was just once for the whole trip and I was done. This upcoming trip I am not only because I am getting 6 day park hoppers and it is pretty much the same price to get all 6 from Disney as it is to get a 4 and then 2 full priced. It is definitely possible though! Just with a little tiny inconvenience at the beginning.

yup, you either scan the back of the ticket where the bar code is or just enter it manually in your MDE acct. bought my 4 day salute a month ago at West point, added it on my MDE and have made my FP)+

:thumbsup2 Yep!

This is what I did for our February 2014 trip, and it worked perfectly.

So you only had to scan your band to get into the park? You didn't need your hard ticket?

I'm all linked up in MDE, it's the magic bands I'm worried about.

This makes it sound like you don't need a military member present when you go the parks. Has that changed? Last time we used the Salute tickets my step-dad or mom had to be there to activate them on our first day. It would be nice if my step-dad could buy them for me at the base and I could go when I wanted.

Yes the military member must be present. At least that's what the lady at our base ticket place told us.

If you buy your military salute ticket (it is really just a certificate) in advance you can make your reservations and link it to your magic band, but you still have to stop at a ticket window to activate them, with the military person (or spouse) there with their military id. If you have a magic band they can be activated from the magic band, or they can be converted to rfid tickets and activated and be added to a magic band at that time.

Be sure to activate them first. Every day there are people there at rope drop, only to be turned away because the tickets they have are really just certificates that need to be activated. Mainly military tickets and Florida resident tickets. Proof of service or residency is required.

Thanks to all the military out there for your service!

We are planning to activate it the night before at DTD...is that a good strategy? If I buy a magic band and take it to guest services when I activate the ticket they can take care of linking them there?

Thanks...I just don't want to be held up or waste time so if I can understand the process before I go that would be great :)

I am in a similar situation. I have linked the salute tickets to MDE account and have magic bands. My plan is to arrive at resort early on a Saturday morning (26 JUL) and immediately take a bus to the MK to activate the 6 military salute tickets. I would call to ask if there is a location at DD to activate. I was told I have to go to an actual park ticket window.

You can activate your tickets at Guest Relations at the 4 Theme Parks and DTD. There are 2 Guest Relations facilities at DTD, one on the east side (marketplace, next to Arribas Bros and Ghiradelli Ice Cream) and one on the west side (at DisneyQuest). Lots of construction at DTD, and traffic/parking nightmare. OR, if you're taking the SoG bus to MK (TTC parking lot drop-off?), there is a Ticket Office at TTC (near the monorails) that could help you without going across the lagoon to MK.

Here's the Ticket Sticky (slightly out-of-date). Scroll down to Procedures and Purchasing. In addition to location, it further explains what info is needed for each person receiving a ticket. http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=29574052&postcount=17
