Military Salute activation question

Some friends and I are going to WDW in October. One of us bought the Military Salute tickets. We all plan to activate them in DTD on the Wednesday most of us arrive.
I have two questions -

1) for the two people that will not be there yet can my friend activate their tickets without them being there? As long as she has their information?

2) On Thursday morning if we activate in DTD do we all have to enter a park with her (and her military ID) for the first use or are we good to go to go on our own without her?

Thanks!

1.The military member, or the member's spouse, can activate all of the tickets without the other party members present, as long as they have everyone's info.

2. Once the tickets are activated, it doesn't matter who goes where, when or why. They are just like regular tickets at that point.

Thank you. This is what we thought but she has had a different experience every time she has bought and activated tickets.

I have salute tickets, and I have been told that all parties must be present with the military member to activate.

Just a heads up, I have heard that people often are permitted to do what you are asking. But OFFICIALLY, everyone who will be using the tickets must be with the military member and show ID when their ticket is activated. From Military Disney Tips:

When you activate your Disney Armed Forces Salute Tickets you’ll need to bring your military ID, or any picture ID for those in your party without military IDs, though young children don’t need them.

Everyone that you are activating a ticket for must be present to have their ticket activated. If the spouse is activating the tickets they must have their dependent ID Card (DD Form 1173) which must show a relationship of either “Spouse” or “Unremarried Widow.”

If some guests in your party will arrive at a later date, but before you have used up your ticket, you can activate theirs when they arrive.

Disney will enter some information into their system which the service member or spouse must provide. This is: The service member’s name, birth date, base where assigned, and an e-mail address.

Disney will look at everyone’s ID and then tie his or her name to a specific ticket. They then should have everyone sign the back of their ticket so that they won’t be mixed up. The first time you use the ticket or corresponding Magic Band to enter a park or venue, the ticket holder’s fingerprint (at Disney Word) or picture (at Disneyland) will also be tied to that ticket.

I think they took our finger prints at the ticket activation window at Guest Services in May but could be wrong.

I believe you must be thinking about the biometric scan at park entry. I don't think there is the capability at any Guest Services counter to take either a fingerprint or a scan.

But they may definitely require ID from everyone who will be using a ticket that is being activated. Not to say that they ALWAYS require that, but technically, they are supposed to.

Could be right. All running together! We definitely all had to be there to activate them.

Besides Shades Of Green, can i buy the 4day $177 military tickets at any disney park gate?

When we went in with ours, on the first day through the gate the military sponsor had to be with us to go in. Then after that we did what we wanted separately.

Yes. But if you buy them at SOG or at a military base, you won't pay taxes. At the Disney park gates you do.

When we went in, we had to have our military sponsor for the first time we went in, after that we were free to come and go freely. I wrote that a minute ago and my post disappeared!

I have purchased these tickets every year since they started offering them--and I have never been required to be there when entering the park for the first time. The cast member at the gate has no idea what type of tickets you purchased--so no reason to ask for military ID.

I have always activated the tickets with everyone present--more so just to avoid any issues or delays. You could try activating them all and if they say no for the ones not there--then go with them separately. Worth a try.

I remember them doing that before and when we gave them our vouchers along with military ID they loaded the tickets on our bands.

Two questions (forgive me for hijacking the thread).
1. If the military member buys the tix at a Base MWR can the tix be put on a Magic Band for purposes of securing fastpasses in advance?
2. Can some of these discounted tix be used by extended family (niece, nephew, etc) of the military member?

1. Yes. Just to make sure it's clear, the Magic Band has nothing "on" it. It is just a link to your My Disney Experience account. You are linking the tickets to your MDE account. What you will receive from the MWR ITT office is an "exchange certificate." It looks like this:

I have blacked out the number (duh), but you can enter than number into your MDE account, and that will enable you to make fastpass reservations in advance.

(One other note, you are not actually limited to the locations listed on the front to activate your ticket. We often use the Downtown Disney Guest Relations windows.)

2. Yes, they can be used for anyone the military member chooses (up to 5 people), as long as the military member is present to activate them.

1. You can add the vouchers to your MDE account. The only issue I had was the numbers on the back are very small.

2. yes, but the military member must activate the tickets at the ticket window/Guest Services.

Thanks for the quick response.

I think you are confusing "entering the gate" with "activating the tickets". Activation has to be done at a ticket window or guest relations, and the military member must be present. Once they are activated, the military member does NOT have to be with anyone using the tickets to enter a park.
