Military Room Discount Extended!

Was it the same reservation number or a different one and did your name appear on her confirmation? Just curious.

The confirmation number was different, however, since they were linked together. Every time she made changes to her reservation it was sent to both her and our email addresses.

:cool1:This is the deal I've been waiting for! Now I think we'll be staying at a moderate:banana:

Do you all also know how the ticket discount works? They can buy up to 6, 4 day passes for $99+$25 for park hopper each, correct? You cannot add days, correct? Can they buy more if they want more later? Say they get there (family of 4 and buy four passes. They want to go more days, so can then buy another set of 4? Or are they keeping track of the total for the length of this offer and 6 is the max allowed? And are they only adult tickets or can children use them? Friends of mine would be 2 adults, DS13 and DS9. Would they have to buy a children's pass for the youngest? Thanks! They had lots of questions!

Six is the one-time maximum for the promo and you can't add any days. All you could do is apply it ($99+) toward an AP. The tix are good for both children and adults and the price is the same.

This is from Mousesavers:

2010 Special Ticket Offer for Military

From 1/3/10-7/31/10, active or retired US military personnel may purchase up to a maximum of six 4-Day Base Tickets (which provide access to one theme park per day, no hopping) for $99 per ticket, plus tax, to be used by themselves, family members (including spouse) or friends. These tickets will be valid through 9/30/10 or until all entitlements on the tickets have been used, whichever comes first. There are block-out dates (when the military tickets are not valid) of 3/27/10-4/9/10 at all four theme parks, and 7/3/10-7/4/10 at Magic Kingdom only.

Although these tickets do not include either the Park Hopper or Water Park Fun & More options, they can be upgraded to add either option, or both, for an additional $26, plus tax, per option (half the regular price).

How to Get the Tickets

Beginning January 3, 2010, guests can pre-purchase the tickets (in the form of an exchange voucher) at Shades of Green or at a military base, TAX-FREE! The exchange voucher is then taken to a Main Entrance theme park ticket window, where it is exchanged for the actual ticket. The military tickets can also be purchased at the Main Entrance theme park ticket windows beginning January 3, but if you do this, you must pay tax.

Rules

These tickets are for active and retired US Military including Coast Guard and active members of the Reserves or National Guard, and permanently disabled veterans with a valid military ID card. Dept of Defense (CIA, FBI, Secret Service) and Coalition Forces are excluded.

If the service member is not present, the spouse or unremarried widow may purchase up to five tickets during the validity period.

The tickets may be upgraded to Seasonal (for Florida Residents) or Annual Passes, with credit toward the upgrade based on the actual price paid.

No Expiration Option cannot be added to these tickets. No other upgrades, such as adding additional days, will be available.

Tickets must be used by the same person on any and all days.

This offer may not be combined with any other offer.

Does anyone know if child dependent's ID can be used for the discount on the rooms? Our sponsor, my late husband passed away 4 years ago (while on active duty). I have remarried, but my kids are still dependents. We can stay at Shades of Greens and buy tickets there, but I am getting the run around from Disney about staying at any other resort with the discount. I'm not understanding why my kids don't qualify and I'm not getting a answer from Disney?? HELP!!

I'm sorry for your loss and for not getting an answer from Disney.

Anyone with a valid military ID card is eligible for the room discount. The room discount, however, is NOT valid at SOG. Since you have re-married and no longer have an ID card, at least one of your children would need to be present at check-in to show their ID card, if asked.

I'm just curious, since you've re-married and you don't have an ID card, how do dependents (your children) keep their ID cards?

Yes they get to keep theirs! The Army still takes care of them, but they treat me differently! Oh well, at least my kids are taken care of, I can handle it. Anyway, this is what I have been told but then I have been told that they have to be at least 18. I know the discount is not at shades, I can stay there but I way prefer the Poly. WDW has become our happy place and we have been 6 times since his death.....so I think we deserve the discount!! LOL!!

I didn't answer right last time.....the kids are still military dependents, but I am not! Does that make more sense?

Thanks for answering my question.

I thought I had seen a reference to "surviving spouses" being also eligible for the promo., though it did not mention anything re. ID cards or being re-married. I think it might have been in reference to the military salute tix.

The eligibility details, from MouseSavers:

Military Offer - Save 40% on Rooms
Special deal for eligible members of the US Military*: Save 40% on rooms at select Disney resorts! For stays most nights through 9/30/10.

Book by 7/31/10. If you'd like to book these rates as part of a vacation package with the Dining Plan, there is a special code for doing so.

*Offer available to active duty military, activated reservists and retired military. Proof of Military eligibility is required.

The number of rooms allocated for this offer is limited. Minimum length of stay requirements may apply for Friday or Saturday arrivals. Savings based on non-discounted price for the same room. No group rates or other discounts apply. Advance reservations required. Additional per-adult charges apply if more than two adults per room.

The room discount doesn't seem to include "dependents". But, I would think that you might be able to make the reservation, since you're over 18, and if asked (big "if", most CMs never ask for the ID) then you could give them your child's ID at check-in:confused3

If this doesn't work, could you use the general public discount?

January - June 2010
Valid for stays most nights 1/1 -1/3, 1/10 - 1/11, 1/ 18 – 2/ 9, 2/ 15 – 3/ 27 and 4/11 – 6/3.

Save up to 45% when staying for 5 or more consecutive nights at select Walt Disney World Resorts.

The Poly would be 40% off.

Can someone please help me regarding the military id cards? Are the active and retired ID's different in how they look such as color, etc. Just trying to see if we will qualify.

Thanks!

I'm not sure why you're asking since both retirees and active-duty are eligible for the room discount. But, yes, they are different in that the blue retiree ID card lists their branch of service followed by "RET" and the active-duty ID card says "ACTIVE".

is this just for rooms? what about campsite or cabins at Ft. Wilderness?
The FTW cabins are in the moderate category, so they would be eligible, assuming there is availability. However, the campsites would not be eligible.
