I just called Disney and booked 10 nights in June at pop for 800ish bucks. The CM said they have extended the Military Discount of 40% off a room rate and that you can add the dining plan if you wish!

Thank you so much for posting the updated news. The offer must be booked by July 31st and covers stays through 9/30. I just modified 3 reservations and saved about $350 over the 20 percent PIN I used. Thanks again for the update!!

Thanks for posting this news, I've been debating on trying to go back to WDW this summer (early July) and knowing that the military discount for room rates has been extended might just seal the deal.

Now, I just have to convince the family, wish me luck!

Thanks for posting! Is this only activated reservists? My DH is reserve, but not activated (nor will be for a long time, thank God). We've stayed at SOG once, and I loved it, but he prefers the Boardwalk (yikes, much more). Without him, I've done the Swan and Dolphin a few times (and with him once), and I love them as well. We love Epcot.

I may call Disney - considering spring trip (and summer as well, if we buy AP's).

ditto for me: good luck! :thumbsup2

Thank you so much! I just booked my trip yesterday for a total of $2600. Called back today and changed to the military discount and now my trip is $1600!! Woo hoo! The CMs just received the email today and she stated I was her first one today and they were still updating!!!!

I am a reservist, and they accepted my ID this past December and July. However, I was activated for 45 days this past March and April. They never asked for my papers showing that I had been activated, but I had them with me. I would call Disney and ask them. It doesn't hurt to ask, and they never checked that I had been activated, so they may just be accepting military IDs (even when I activated my tickets), but I'm not sure (My ID specifically states that I am in the reserves on it). Good luck! I think their stipulations can be confusing sometimes.

Oh, last years promotion stated that you had to be an activated reservist at some point since January of 2008.

Did I understand correclty that disney will let you add the meal plan to the military room only discount and does not make you have at least one day ticket to add meal plan? I am trying to plan a trip with my mom and kids for this summer and my dad is retired military and we want to take advantage of the $99 dollar base tickets but would love to stay at the disney resort if we can add the meal plan..............My dad will not be with us but I should be able to get all of the discounts with my mom since she has a military ID right??? Any information will be appreciated! Many Thanks!

WooHooo with this news, Disney here we come again!!

Now all I have to do is decide what hotel I am wanting to stay in. It is between Coronado Springs (which we love) AKL or Wildness Lodge.

Here are the details from www.Mousesavers.com:

Military Package with Dining

Special deal for eligible members of the US Military*:

A discounted Military Package with Dining is available for stays most nights through 9/30/10. The Military Package with Dining does not include tickets because there is a special ticket offer for military.

The package includes a room discount of 40% off, but the Dining Plans are priced at the regular rate.

The Military Package with Dining is subject to regular Walt Disney Travel Company package rules.

*Offer available to active duty military, activated reservists and retired military. Proof of Military eligibility is required.

Request code OUR for package with Quick Service Dining Plan, OUS/OUT for package with regular Dining Plan or OUU for package with Deluxe Dining. (My note: This is a slight change from 2009 as the DxDP was not included when the promo. was announced. I believe some reported being able to get it added later-on in the year, but I'm not certain.)

OMG that is AWESOME!!! I think I might go for the deluxe dining this time. I'm taking my friend in June for her graduation from college, she's getting her accounting degree!!

Hooray I just save a bundle. We have a Grand Gathering in June, but I was only able to book three rooms under the rate. My nephew will be sworn into the Navy as soon as we get back. So he gets one last trip. The cool thing is that his dad (Navy retired) will be able to swear him in.

Probably a really stupid question but does the discount apply if you stay at shades of green? And if it does are you able to add the dining plan?

Thanks

Not a stupid question at all.

Disney discounts, including the military discount, only apply to Disney-owned and operated hotels. SOG is owned/operated by MWR, but SOG is located on Disney property (It was originally the "Disney Inn".) The DP can never be added to an SOG reservation (or the Swolphin hotels).

Has anyone had expereince using this discount with retiree id card? My dad is retired military, but he is not much on disney but my mom who has a dependent ID will be with us, Can we get all the discounts with her ID. Have booked a trip in May but just want to make sure when we get there we do not have problems.

Retirees are eligible, however, your dad, the retiree, must "activate" the tix at WDW.

Whoops! You are asking about the room discount NOT the military tix - sorry. My brain was on the tix thread.

Yes, your mom should be able to book the room and if asked at check-in, though she probably won't be, she can present her ID. I'd make a copy of dad's retiree ID though, just in case, and bring it along.
