Whats up with Disney upping the price on the Military park hoppers over 100%?! Who can we talk to about this?

Talk to Disney. They are running a business. If you don't like the prices shop elsewhere.

My totally unpopular opinion: being in the military is a job. You chose to take the job. The job pays what they said it would pay. Why are discounts expected by this group of workers?

:confused3 Are you talking about the stars and stripes one or the 4 day pass one? What was the price before and what is it now?

It sucks but then again I feel that discounts are nice things to have and even if the price rises there are other logical ways to save money at Disney. Disneyland is doing a pretty good promotion for Military service right now so I may look into that.

I'm kind of on the same page as you.....it's not that I don't think they should get discounts but if they are getting discounts, they should be giving the same discounts to people like police officers and firefighters as well IMO. They risk their lives everyday also to protect us so why dont they get the same discounts?

Someone we know brought that up one day....he is a sheriff in an extremely dangerous part of the city. He risks his life everyday that he goes to work trying to protect the residents....he doesn't really care about the discount itself...he said its more of the principle of the thing

I agree...

Notice, the poster is new, so a few thoughts cross my mind:

A) Stirring the pot.
B) Afraid to post with their normal user name.

And lastly, and the least likely:

C) They are really just a new poster.

I was thinking the same thing...And why scroll down to the CB to post it?:confused3

I'm not going to comment on the discount, because the OP has 1 post and I think she is trolling; and I also don't expect discounts as a military spouse even though I do appreciate them.

However, I do have to comments on the whole "it's just a job that they chose to do, and police don't get discounts"

I have great respect for police and firemen for their service and for the risks they take everyday, but it isn't exactly the same as what our service members go through. Police and firemen come home at night or on their days off, our military spend YEARS away from home. They miss births and milestones and holidays. They miss school plays and first touchdowns and graduations.Yes they chose the job, but thank goodness they did.

If a company wants to give them a discount, good for them for recognizing those extreme sacrifices.

Good point...

And if they still did the $99 discount I would SO be all over that....But appreciatively of course.

I just check on The Hub in the Guest Offers section and have not seen anything that resembles a price increase for the Armed Forces Salute tickets.

Just a job? No, I don't think so, more of an avocation. But then I don't think being in Law Enforcement or Fire Fighting is just a job either. However, a warfighter does his or her tasks in the most hostile environments out there. Over the past ten years they've been going out into 'neighborhoods' laced with hidden bombs, snipers, etc, and often wind up leaving a part of themselves behind, literally and figuratively. If you don't like the idea that they get these discounts fine, but don't belittle what they do by calling it 'just a job'. And no, I'm not a Soldier, nor have I been, but as an Army Civilian, I've known many and not one of them approached it as just a job.

I think the PP was just tring to say that itis voluntary.

Add in the pensions(see CA), early retirements, etc., these are highly compensated positions here by California standards.

My DH is active duty and I separated about 4 months ago. Any and all discounts are greatly appreciated and in no way expected by most military personnel. I don't know what the OP is talking about but yes, in 2009 I got a free 5 day pass and this year we each paid $138 for a 4 day pass. Guess what? That is still a killer deal! So thank you Disney! I hope you continue the great military discounts but if you don't we will still be visiting!

It's not just a job, but it's not the way you describe for everybody in the military. I married a soldier and I have many family members that do and did serve. None of them have been deployed. While I have no problem with military discounts, I don't feel that they are necessary. Are military personnel more important than doctors that save lives? Police, Firefighters, EMS workers, Teachers, Secret Service? Why is one more important than the other? Or what about the soldiers that never leaves the states? Are they less important than those fighting?
