Who knows what kind of military discounts Disney usually has for the cruise? This will be our 5th Disney Cruise, but first time to take advantage of any military discounts.

Also, we have never upgraded at the port. I would really like to have a verandah next time. Would it be best to upgrade at the port, or just book it from the beginning?? Thanks in advance for any info :)

Have no info on military discounts.. It is best to book the category you want, upgrades are very rare and many cruises are full so purchasing at the port may not be available...

yeah, I think you're right on that, I'll have to do that. Now to figure out when and how much ;)!!

I believe Disney Cruise Lines may have discounts sometimes for active military, but I'm afraid there are no discounts for retired military at this time. We always look at military discounts and offerings first (Shades of Green at WDW, park tickets, etc.), but there aren't any that we found for DCL.

You can call DCL directly. I'm not sure if Base Recreations (forgot the proper military name for this) would know since they usually just have discounted tickets, etc, but couldn't hurt to call. :)

I agree with DrCavin on upgrades. From what I understand "free" upgrades are very rare, but even a last minute pay-for-it upgrade at the port (at a discounted rate) are becoming harder to get as well as most of the ships sail full.

Hope this helps. :)

Not aware of any from DCL. I do know that when I was in the reserves, if you had your uniform on during a flight, they would often move you to first class. This happened to me on two occasions.

It's best to book the category you want. Upgrades do come (either paid or free), but you certainly can't count on them. There are frequently no upgrades available at the port.

Check out mousesavers.com and they will post if there are any military discounts at this time. Lately there haven't been any. But I did notice that they were last minute cruises and most of them were off season. (Not summer time) I hope this helps.

Our first DCl cruise was in Oct of 2003..DCL was giving great military discounts...there are none at this point. Have you signed up w/ CruCon and AllSeas...I got some great offers from CruCon a couple days ago, it kills me that we can't take advantage of them. Your best bet is to check out the military travel sites, and to be flexible. If you want a fabulous vacation...I was checking a couple days ago, noticed that the Hale Koa had vacancies 8/27-9/3...I love cruising but the Hale Koa ranks right up there w/ DCL.
