There are no salute tickets for that time and it is even blackout time for the regular military tickets. So unfortunately your nephew is right.

Agree. That is known as the busiest week of the year at DLR. DL usually has at least one or two capacity gate closures during that week. It can be a completely overwhelming time for some visitors.
