Military Discount Tickets?

So it sounds like going through SOG is a better option than through a local base. Is there any reason not to go through them or why you couldn’t?

The only reason not to would be to avoid the $12 shipping fee. Worth every penny to me, to avoid having to activate when we arrive, and to have them delivered to my doorstep instead of driving 40 minutes round trip twice to our base (once to order, once to pickup). Any eligible person can order from SoG.

Which ITT office? Which year?

We have been using these tickets since 2009. I have never heard of an ITT office having the actual tickets.

Kirtland AFB, just a few weeks ago. But have also ordered from Fort Campbell many, many years ago.
I didn’t ask for details, but I think Kirtland actually ordered the tickets from Shades of Green, they just verified my ID and covered the FedEx charges since they order in batches.

Thanks everyone. We are still trying to figure out the logistics of ordering and whether to go through SOG or our local base. We can't seem to get through to either to get information. I like the idea of SOG but the ticket prices on their site seem to be more than what we are seeing through the base.

Hmmm...weird; I've gotten salute tix from both those bases...currently have some frim Campbell that we're using in a couple weeks and we've always had to go to guest services to activate the tix. Are you sure your not thinking about regular (not salute) military discounted tix?

I am considering taking my 17 year old brother and 17 year old nephew to Disney. Both of the boys are military dependents and have ID cards. My husband and I have annual passes. Can my parents purchase the tickets on base and the boys activate them with their military ID’s?

No. Only the sponsor and spouse is authorized to activate the STH tickets. And at least one ticket must be used by the sponsor/ spouse

If the military member or spouse orders them from SoG; they'll come activated and they'll be able to use them. SoG may require the spouse or mil member to be one of the tix holders though. If not through SoG, then you may have more of an issue when you go to activate them, however this past Sept. I went to DS to activate ours and completely forgot to bring my military id. The CM asked if either of my kids had theirs - my son did have his in his wallet and they used that to activate the tix. (The tix weren't even for my son because it was for a trip in Oct. he wasn't coming on.) My dh is active duty, my son is not a spouse, just a dependent but had no issues using his id. - Not sure if that ways a guarantee though.

While technically ordering them to be shipped to you from SoG would work, the military member must sign the order form to confirm that they understand the terms and conditions, including that the military member or spouse must purchase and use one of the tickets. I completely agree; I wouldn't either. First, it would be dishonest. Also, it could also put you in legal jeopardy. It's been a while since I was on active duty, but I imagine it wouldn't be too hard to draw up UCMJ charges (perhaps under Articles 121,132, and/or 134) for someone on active duty who signed this document and then was complicit in allowing the tickets to be misused. And, I suspect that retirees could be prosecuted under similar civilian statutes.

I don’t know what to say to you anymore....I know I’ve gotten the military salute tickets from ITT and have not needed to stop at guest services.... I’ve also gotten Salute tickets from ITT (HAAF) that I have had to stop at guest services, so I do think it’s military installation dependent

To OP, I suggest you call you local ITT and ask

Thanks for the info! We did get through to SOG and were told Disney hasn't given them the new form for the new deal yet but she took his email address and will send it when they get it. I just want to get these tickets linked to our account so we can book the park days.

That's odd, I have people on my military Facebook page who already received the information from SoG for the new tickets. The order form is the same (and in fact has incorrect older dates on it), and they included the new price list. They said to just use the order form and ignore the dates. I'll attach them here.

So what you do is absolutely fine, since you go on the trip with the people to whom you give the tickets.

The point was that one of the tickets must be purchased and used by the military member or spouse. Or, if the military member or spouse has an AP, they can purchase up to 5 tickets to give to whomever they want, but they have to be with them.

This was the PP's question:

Grandparents??? I think you mean from the OP, the boys parent is military...making the boys dependents. Again, I think it'll come down to what someone is personally comfortable with, and doesn't change your answer that it may technically be able to happen, but not how you interpret the rules to be intended to use, but I don't think it's grandparents, it sounds like it's parents.

No, once the tickets are activated the party can split up. For example some go to Epcot and some to MK (or Disneyland / California Adventure), or even use the tickets on different days. The Military ID is checked only upon ticket activation.

My apologies, I did misread. But it makes no difference if it's parents or grandparents who are the eligible military members. It's not an "interpretation", it's black and white. The military member or spouse must purchase and use one of the tickets. I don't see how it can be interpreted any other way.

I never wrote that they had to stay with them throughout a trip. I wrote that the sponsor or spouse has to purchase and use one of the tickets, which is what is specifically outlined in the terms and conditions of the tickets.

I have been waiting for 3 days for my email to come with the order form. I can send whichever one is the right one and not wait since the pricing is easy to find. I just didn't know if they changed forms. The new one seems so simplistic. I like it, just want to make sure that is all I need. Thanks!

Yes, it is, and yes, they have definitely minimized the info! When I ordered our tickets (using the new form, that I attached above) a month or so ago, I asked her why they had done that, since it meant they had to ask for so much more information on the phone now, like address, ID number, etc. She said it was because of regulations that had come down regarding privacy and other issues. They take the info from you, and then verify your eligibility in their systems.

If getting from base, you can still enter the voucher number and it will "act" as a ticket as far as park reservations go. Then when you get to WDW you have to go to guest services to get them activated prior to going into the parks.

This was what our son had to do. Luckily not a long line at guest services and didn't take very long.
The voucher numbers were put into MDE so they could get all their passes, ADRs, etc.
