Afternoon All!

My boyfriend and I, he's a Marine, are planning a trip to Disney. Actually... for next week! (LOL)

Yeah, we like things short notice!!! (hehe)

I was wondering if any of you know more about the military discount than I'm finding online. And which hotels it applies to, if not all of them.

I was going to call some phone numbers when I got home after work, but I thought I'd ask anyway.

Thanks in advance!

Have a good one!

Try this website (courtesy of DisneyDollarless)...it lists all of the military offers...including ones that are off-site (You may not be able to get an on-property room at a discount at this short notice).

Also try www.shadesofgreen.org

they might have a room available (super-slim chance, but there might have been a cancellation!) (Have your boyfriend CALL them- they won't talk to you (until you become "Official"- ie. Marry the Boy)(Or at least be a "wife" if they ask- you'll need his SSN); and they can take forever to respond to an e-mail ressie request).

Have a wonderful trip!!! We're Navy- and used to planning those "last-minute trips"! Jill

If SoG is booked, which it probably is, ask for the overflow rates at other resorts. I am not sure which is cheaper, that or the offer Disney has right now for Military members. Universal is also running a good special.

Thank your boyfriend for all he does for our country!

Have a great trip!!:D

I just wanted to correct some erroneous information. ANY ONE can contact SoG and ANY ONE can make a ressy. You do NOT need to have an "official" relation to the member (btw, for any one who does not know me, I was a resv agent for SoG for 3yrs (14mos as an email agent and the rest on the phones) as well as an active duty military member for 10....I've been on both sides of the fence where this is concerned).

That stated: if you call, you WILL need to have the sponsor's SSN (this close in, you have no choice but to call). If you email, unless things changed, you will need to provide the sponsor's SSN when you finalize (i.e. accept) the reservation.

I'm not certain where the poster came up with "they won't talk to you" until you become official, but that is completely untrue. We have no way of identifying who you are when we're talking/emailing with you. SoG doesn't care who you are, as long as you'll pay and have a SSN that matches the one on file when the sponsor checks in. Now, there will be only certain things the sponsor, or someone "official", can do: such as purchase discounted tickets from the SoG ticket office, but any one can contact SoG. Just wanted to make that clear for the thousands of "unofficial" people connected to sponsors currently left behind and wanting to plan a nice reunion. :)

We are heading down in Feb. haves ressies rfor PC, waiting on AP's. My MIL is going with us. Her DH (he passed away in August) was career military. She has a military dependent ID. Is she elegible for military discounts on room and passes? If so, then maybe we could switch things around if she gets a better discount. Always looking to save a buck or two! LOL

Winter11,
SOG is currently relocated to the Contemporary Resort. I would be really surprised if you could find a better deal than what SOG is offering (stay at the CR wing rooms for the same price as SOG plus tax).

Do call them and check on availability--I have been really surprised to sometimes find rooms available at the last minute--where they didn't have any availability months in advance. (I figure this is due to last minute cancelations. )

If the CR is booked, the SOG overflow rates are good, but as laurenk says, CRO may have a better rate (good for active duty only)--so, it would be a good idea to ask both.

Good luck to you. (I'll send some pixie dust your way.)
