I know there's several discounts and promos and such for military, but I've never paid attention to all the details. I had a friend recently contact me to say he wanted to come visit during his two week leave.

I have a pass for the four Busch Parks, so how does the Here's to the Heroes thing work out?
I can get into Disney parks for free, but not the water parks. Since that's been requested, it'll probably be just as cheap to get the 125$ passes that includes the water parks.

Does Wet n Wild offer any discounts?
Does Universal do anything for military?

I don't think he's been to orlando since I went with his family in the summer of 99. So pretty much anything and everything is on the to-do list. Oh and he is a FL resident, so at least there's that for a discount.

Best way to go is to check with the ticket office at Shades of Green (on WDW), they have all the latest info on military promotions, etc.

I can only help with the Here's to the Heros. He can go to www.herosalute.com and register....or he can just do it at the park gate. They allow 1 free member ticket and up to 3 dependents (with ID if they are over 10) per year. We are doing Sea World this year, but he can choose Busch Gardens as well.

regards

Your military friend can not get into WDW free this year. This year the Military Salute ticket is a 4 day MYW for $99 and the service member can purchase up to six for family/friends. PH or WP&M can be added for $25/per ticket. There are restrictions on this ticket, the Military Salute tickets have to be puchased by July and expire on Sept. 30th. More info at SOG Website. As a FL resident he can get the FL Resident Dream ticket (4 day MYW) for $99 but those are only valid until 5/25/10. Those can also have PH or WP&M added for $25/ticket.

I have read on the DIS that military members can also get up to 40% off resort rates as well (number of rooms at the resorts are limited) but I'm not sure if those discounts will be extended past the date of the Military Salute tickets or not. FL residents can also get discounts off of rooms but those vary so if he wants to stay on property he just needs to call and see what is available at what rate. The WDW site usually has a section for FL residents to compare FL resident rates.

The Universal Military Salute ticket deal ended March 26th. And as a PP said check the Here's to the Hero site for Sea World tickets.

We are military and he will be able to get 4 free tickets to sea world. Discounted 4 day tickets to disney, we purchased 4 day park hopper/water park and they were $147 a piece. Also if it is the same as last year. He will get a free ticket to Universal, both parks and discount for friends/family.

I believe that you can only do Sea World or Busch Gardens but not both.

because i have connections i can get into the disney parks free. And find tickets for him too, but i'd still have to pay for the water parks. So 125 for 4 or 5 days of parks and wpf&m is better than OOP for just a couple water park days.

I'd like to take him to all the sea world parks. And he'll be here late july, so hopefully it'll be in time.

And universal isn't that high priced for fl residents, free is just nicer.

Well Sea World only allows for one day free. I'm just wondering if buying a two park pass would be worth it or not. If he went with an annual pass, he'd lose 6 months just because he's overseas at least till december. Guess I need to start talking to some friends. I've got like 10-14 days to fill up.

I guess the first stop is Shades of Green... Can you still buy discounted tickets there even if you're not staying there?? I saw the stars and stripes pass requires you to be staying on property, but that's the only one that specifically stated you needed to be staying on site to recieve it.

You don't have to stay at SOG or on property to purchase regular tickets at SOG. He will have to show his CAC at the security gate to be allowed in. Since he can purchase the salute tickets there anyway, he can also purchase any other discounted tickets for other places like SW or US. The Stars and Stripes are the only special tickets that are for onsite guests only. They are basically premium everything included tickets good only for the length of stay. Right now, the salute tickets are a much better deal. He can purchase up to 6 and use multiple ones for himself.

Thanks. I guess I'll take him over there and see how much he wants to spend. He's ok with the 125 for disney tickets.

Is there a Universal Military Ticket deal ??? Besides the ones you can get slightly discounted at SOG?? Thanks

The Busch Gardens deal for military is great! My family went a couple of years ago and we got special passes on lanyards we could wear. Everywhere we went in the park, my husband was thanked. Really feels good to be appreciated!
