Military Discount Extended

Yeah, Steve mentioned it on the blog: http://www.militarydisneytips.com/b...-disney-renew-the-disney-armed-forces-salute/

Looks like we're getting a later announcement due to Disney possibly changing their Armed Forces Salute release from fiscal year to calendar year coverage. I've signed up for his newsletter in case I miss the announcement while I'm at work. I already have our stay booked and am hoping & praying that the discount can be applied to our existing reservation instead of cancelling & rebooking in the hopes of finding a qualifying room. I know it's risky, but I was just so excited to finally be able to book it once the 2016 package rates came out.
Yeah, having it done by calendar year would make it so much easier for a lot of families. If they do this, I think it's pretty smart.

Question specifically about the room discount : It's my understanding that the only the room that the military affiliated person is staying in is discounted. Its that correct/true ?

What if that persons immediate family meaning husband/wife and their children exceed the room capacity and two rooms are required ?

In most circumstances, the wife and children (12+) also have military IDs. Would it be correct/allowable to name the spouse in the 2nd room, providing military ID, to receive the discount.

I'm not trying to cheat the system. I just want to make sure we are abiding within in the guidelines

I totally understand asking to make sure.

I zipped over to Steve's Disney Military Tips site, went to the current offer page.
http://www.militarydisneytips.com/Disneys-Armed-Forces-Salute-FAQ.html#HowMany

This is what the page says:

You may reserve up to 3 rooms using the Disney Armed Forces Salute. All rooms must check in the same day at the same resort and the military sponsor must stay in one.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When the new salute comes out (hopefully!) there should specific information for 2016.

Thanks Gwynne !

Oh course I went back to MDE to look again myself and answered my own question

The number of rooms allocated for this offer is limited. Length of stay requirements may apply. Valid Military ID will be required upon check-in and military member (or spouse) must stay in the room. This offer is for active or retired members of the U.S. Military, including the National Guard, Reservists and the U.S. Coast Guard. Spouses of Military Service Members also qualify if they are able to present valid and active U.S. Military IDs in the absence of active Military Personnel.

Well, it's officially the end of August and no announcement. Steve's newsletter came out today and said "maybe late summer".

Here's hoping only a few more weeks!!!

I agree but I think it will be more like January 2026 as he predicted. But they could surprise us. I just hope since I will be down there I will see it by email so I can call. Here is hoping for some pixie dust.

2026 would be awful!!! LOL (I know you mean 2016).

I hope not, because obviously no one would be able to book FP's or ADR's for the 1st half of the year, which would be an even worse situation than before.

Opps, I didn't even catch that and yes that would be awful Lmao. Thanks for pointing it out Mousemommy1 :) :rolleyes1:-)

I'm so thankful for this discount!! We have always stayed at Shades but I think next year we will use the room discount too. Can't wait to get the official word!

Anticipation is killin me

I'm nervous if I should try and apply the new Disney Visa Cardholder Room only discount, or wait and by some fluke not be able to use the Military rate and end up having a pay ...........rack rate, which would be very scary :scared1:

Thanks for the heads up! Got my dialing fingers ready! :flower1:
Me too, we so appreciate the Military Salute! I hope they are loaded into the system. Sometimes it's a bit hit and miss at the beginning of this offer.
