Military discount - confused

Someone posted that you can use the military discount for the campsites, but then I just recently realized that instead of 40% off of all categories, like past years, they are different %'s for different resort levels. So, does anyone know what the % off it is for the campsites? I know I could call Disney, but I really, really hate to and who knows if I will get accurate info, so I thought I would ask here first.

Please, feel free to be as snarky as you want - I can take it! :thumbsup2

Thanks,
Karen

Last month when we reserved October 2011, we were told by Ticket & Tours on base (Eglin AFB) that there were no current discounts at the Fort. If anyone does hear of one - please, please share that info. so we can modify our reservation.

Thanks

Make sure you check MWR (Tickets and Tours?) for WDW park tickets. You'll save a bunch. I bought three 3 day tickets for about the price of a single regularly priced 4 day ticket.

Karen- I'm sorry I don't have the answer to your question, but I did want to thank you and/or your DH for your service to our country.

With regard to discounts, they are a tricky thing. WDW is always announcing discounts, but what they don't tell you is that they are for a limited number of accommodations. That means you could call the day the discount is announced and be told that none are available on your dates. So, I'm afraid to tell you that you are going to have to make that dreaded phone call to 1-407-W-DISNEY.

I just clicked on a link that popped up in my Yahoo mail for Florida Resident discounts today. It's for stays this spring. 17% at Fort Wilderness. I could get partials, preferred, or premium to show up (mostly for 12 day or more stays), for early April.

To the OP, if your signature is right, sounds like these deals wouldn't help you (10 months to your stay), but do look at AAA rates. The AAA discount is 20% in value season.

And the military ticket offer is pretty good. Think of the total trip cost and don't be so worried about the cost of the Fort.

(And thanks from my family to all the military families too.)

I was told to check back in March or April for December 2011. Nothing was loaded the last time I called.

We are hoping Disney will extend the ticket deal once again starting in October, if not we plan to just enjoy EPCOT for one day and the Fort and other resorts the remainder of the trip.

Yep and even if it's out of area they might have discounts for the major attractions like six flags, disney, bush gardens, etc.

I've been associated with the military since going to FW on a regular basis for the last 26 years (6 as active duty and 20 as retired) and have never heard of a discount on the campsites and I check every couple of years to see if things have changed.

We had military discounts for December 2009 but had to cancel. We were given a premium at the preferred rate.

We were scheduled for the second week of December before the rates jacked up.

Hope that helps.

Regardless of if you get vouchers from MWR or SOG, you will have to have the main ID holder with you when you validate at the ticket windows at one of the parks.

In July we validated at typhoon lagoon during a thunder storm warning.

I noticed it appears you are from Floriday. Last year (ran through Sep 2010, so rules may have changed) you were able to add on 4 minor park (water parks or disney quest) for a flat $25 that could be used until the expiration of the promotion in Sep 2010. So you could do the major parks on one trip and the minors split between shorter trips later if you are close enough.

Something to check out maybe

Good luck!:goodvibes

FYI: Just in case you're willing to pass on Ft Wilderness, Shades of Green is having a great Special discount at their resort this Spring and late Summer: 50% off! So it's $47 for a (Disney deluxe level) room. That's cheaper than a partial site at the Fort. If you still want to stay at Ft Wilderness, I think AAA is the best discount ( I usually get 20% off). Good Luck.

That is a great deal at the SOG. My Best friend and her family stayed there this past July while hubby and I stayed at the Fort.

But I am NOT doing WDW in July again. I have learned my lesson on why my folks took my brother and I down in later September through early November. They did it once in the summer when I was a wee thing, and now I learned. I also now know why they laughed at me in a evil way when I told them I was going down in July.

Parents do know best once you get older.

Can you please provide what the discount was, what level of campsite is was for and I assume it was thru Disney and not SOG or a MWR, but pls. confirm that.

Thanks,

Larry

Except you missed who you got it from Disney, SOG or MWR, but 2 out of 3 is better than fleet average. Reason I'm asking is we often get AAA discount and when we do we ask about AARP, military, AP, etc. and never have heard that they offer a discount to the military.

This last time we got a premium site at a FHU rate, but that was a Disney problem to simply make us happy and wonder if that might have happened to you vice an actual discount.

I'm just trying to understand exactly what you did to get this discount.

Thanks again,

Larry

Larry,
I belive I hit 3 for 3. :goodvibes

I called and spoke with the reservations people and was offered the discount. I will say, that the woman who took the call was one of the most pleasent reservation cast members I have used. We clicked, and were laughing throughout the booking.

When I called within the last couple of months to check on next year's discounts, the military discounts were only through Spring if I remember correctly. Once again, the cast meember I spoke to went out of her way to find the email. And once again we shared some laughs.

I normally can tell within 5 seconds if I am going to get good service on the phone or not. And if I don't get the service I am seeking, I call back until I do.
