Military discount - confused

Thanks everyone. I guess I will just have to make that dreaded call ... yuck! My ticker is wrong. I need to change it. We are going in Sept, but don't know which dates, yet. The older kids and I have the Fl resident weekday passes, but I am going to get the military tickets for DH and (will be) 3 yr old daughter. That is a great deal. Not as good as the year he got a free one, but that is typical Disney. If I don't get a discount, it will still be cheaper than a Disney hotel with five people in our family.

I researched an old post, and it says the discounts are loaded through Sep.

I'm have my fingers crossed I might land one for this coming Dec.

There is no military discount for the campground, but there is a 10% off available. Go to mouseforless.com & look up resort discounts. It lists all the discounts being offered & the deadlines etc. They do have a great section on military discounts. also, Shades is offering incredible discounts too. and Swan & Dolphin. Enjoy. Passes really good price now too.

Mousesavers recommends contacting Shades of Green for information. It says for tickets and all discounts.

Yep and even if it's out of area they might have discounts for the major attractions like six flags, disney, bush gardens, etc.

Larry always gives good advice. I try to read all of his posts. It helps me to be a better camper.

We constantly try to get either military, Florida resident, or AAA discounts for our campsites and are always told that nothing's available. The only time we've gotten a discount at the Fort was the first time we stayed there in 2009 in a cabin and we got a great deal. We never stay during busy times so I'm surprised we haven't been able to get anything. I keep checking back and hope that eventually we can get some kind of discount. It's very frustrating.

Hmm, I thought the great Lar knew everything about the Fort.

They do offer a military discount for the campsites. You sometimes have to be persistent and know the discount code and force reservations to apply it, but it does work. Now here is the stipulations, they do not discount ALL levels of sites. Just the more expesnive ones and never during peak times like holidays and summers and spring break and, well you get the idea. Plus they only allow so many discounts to be used at one time at the fort. So if you call and they say none are available, they may not have any sites during that time to offer discounts on. But if youre a florida resident, the discounts are exactly the same. So if no military discounts are available, try the Florida resident and vice versa. A quick search should turn up the discount codes and then mention that code when reserving.

Well I think I clearly stated "I had never heard of it" and that was true up until this thread, but I'm still not sure how to get the discount for a room only. One person said thru disney ressies and now you say there is a code. Just where did you find that code. I have seen discounts when you book a MYW or DDP package as an add on, but never just for reserving a campsite and I have done the searches to no avail.

I'm always willing to save a buck if I can and unlike your misplaced assumption I'm always willing to learn.

Thanks for the info devores. I never seem to get a helpful castmember when I call and they don't want to look up all the discounts I qualify for. Having the codes should definitely help. I'm going to give them a call again tomorrow.

Well, even though you ended your post with a sarcastic comment clearly directed at insulting me, I will post this anyway, as Im sure others will benefit from it as well.

And, by the way, google is your friend....a simple search turns up the codes I refer to. Just tell the person making your reservation you want to apply the code. But the military discount at the fort is hard to get as they only offer so many sites at the discount and they ussualy go quick. But like I said, the military discount is the exact same as the florida resident, so if you cant get one, try the other. I personaly us my DWs cast member discount for 50% off.

As I said earlier, you have to sometimes force the ressie person to try to apply the code, but they work for the campsites. Ive used them plenty of times. But they only apply to the prefered and premium sites.

Yes I have seen those all the time, but when you look at the selected resorts only the cabins are listed as being eligible not just the campsites.

The follow is the quote from HERE and I highlighted in red where it only mentions the cabins and the codes are the same. So is there something other than this that includes just the campsites?

Sorry for appearing to be difficult, but the cabins and campsites are totally different and I would think the highlighted portion above in red would have said FW cabins and campsites if both were included. Also since the codes are the same in my quote as yours I'm just trying to understand this offer ... maybe I just need to call WDW ressies now with the codes I have and see what happens and do appreciate you giving me something to work with since I would have never thought those codes the way the link I quoted would apply to both the cabins and campsites.
