Shan, I was not trying to "personally attack" anyone.

But you did and violated the forum posting rules in doing so.

Just saying the age old, "if you have nothing decent to say, keep quiet" I was referring to the posters own statement of "I have been asked to leave this forum"

I was asked to leave this forum because "my kind" was not welcome on the camping board and "you gays deserve to die of AIDS" among other choice phrases.

All I was saying is, Hey, there was no "arguing" going on before the post, and now, anyone else's opinion is wrong....

I suggest you read my posts again, stating my opinion that the comments were harsh and I personally found them offensive is not the same as stating everyone else's opinions are wrong. That is a straw man argument.

To the poster:
No one was saying it was ONLY dependants/companions bending anything.... ....All we are saying is don't ruin it for everyone else. That is what the whole discussion on here has been about. No finger pointing at dependants, or friends, etc. Just talking. Until fingers started being pointed about "discrimination" for lack of a better word, or feelings of superiority towards dependants. NOT TRUE. And I felt I needed to say something since the poster was allowed to run off at the mouth about us. Thats it, now I will take my own advice- I have nothing else productive to say so

We were just saying, Hey, follow the rules put forth...if you are lucky enough to have them bent for you, great, but keep it to your self so other's don't keep trying the same.(I know your personal situtation was different since the powers that be approached your parents. And you were looking here more for confirmation then anything else) That way an offer like this MIGHT be available again in the future. As well as, people don't go down thinking the rules will be bent for them and then only find out they won't, and have things go a rye for their trip. That's all. Yeah, I always liked it better in a combat zone because at least you could shoot back.

BTW, I agree with Jim on this, but I never saw a Soviet soldier face to face - only T-55s, T62s, BRDMs, BTRs and other assorted military equipment they gave to their lackeys.

The turret off of a T-55 really flies high in the air after a hit on the turret ring. A really big bang too.

I think the other Jim's "running off at the mouth" was reflecting the fact that you had an argument everytime FtWildJim defended himself and his opinion. Some what contradicting what you yourself are saying everyone has done to you in this thread. Like Shan pointed out, the quote you are so upset with was written while someone was having a bad day or in a mood. Sometimes you need to pick your battles, let it go, but you aren't dropping it. Thus, the comment about causing an argument instead of rolling with discussion. It's just a simple discussion going on here, no need to get all rauled up. Everyone with military background here knows what dependants go through, many have wives/husbands, kids. They get it. NO ONE is belittling that. The talk and quote you keep using was about those who have NO affiliation and are finding ways to be sneeky and get the deal. Not those that have been offered it by friends or family eligible.

Why is it that my comments are arguing and Jim's comments are defending himself? Seriously, I am not being sarcastic either-I honestly want to know.

Like I said before, I'm not riled up or angry-just stating my opinion-if telling me I needed to die of AIDS didn't get me riled up, why would this?

As far as picking my battles and letting things go, I can just as easily say the same thing-it takes more than one for an ongoing discussion.

I'm not sure why people seem to think if you differ in opinions, state them, and talk about them it's an argument. I never told anyone to crawl back into a hole where they came from, told anyone their opinions were wrong, called anyone any names, stated I was putting anyone on ignore, etc, etc and have even stated I'm not angry - so I'm not sure where the assumption that I am angry or arguing is coming from.

If I were arguing, I could not do it alone-it's pretty much a team sport.

Ive made comments and derogatory remarks about every lifestyle, race, creed and color (all jokingly, but crude none the less.Im pretty sure the "New rules on Religion and Politics" sticky is a direct fault of mine)...I enjoy stirring the pot from time to time....but to wish death by aids upon ayone is most definately out of line, Im sorry you have had to deal with this kind of ignorance from the people of this board...and Im sure it wouldnt have been one of the regular posters...I just cant imagine who would be that out of touch with reality. FtWGuy.....I wasnt sweating the comments you made about "earning it", it made me think that Im really lucky to have friends who are willing to include me in there circle and offer the discount to me. But you better believe....if Im being offered a discount that I have not earned...I SURE DONT HAVE A PROBLEM FOLLOWING THE EXPECTED PROCESS! I don't know who it was, it was an email from a hotmail account I believe, but among the hateful stuff was a sincere request that I leave the camping board because I was making everyone uncomfortable. I had no desire to do that so I thought it better to leave....you know..."stick with my own kind" ~grin~

So do I. I reviewed my posts again to see if maybe I did say something out of line, moody, or personally attacking and I just don't see it. then again, that has to do with perception so maybe others see something I don't? Coming from a long line of Air Force and Army family members, I have nothing but respect for anyone who has served this country (in whatever capacity) and put up with garbage that goes along with it... and that includes Jim.

Just because I think someone has said something harsh or hurtful or even just said something I don't agree with- doesn't mean I don't respect them or think they are a bad person. That's just insane.
