Miley Cyrus here, filming "The Last Song"...

My dd is too old to really care, although she admits to having watched Hannah Montanna ("when there is nothing else on", lol). But I thinks it's cool that she is in town all summer, filming a Nicolas Sparks movie. There is the possibility that I could get a shift working as stand-by medic. I have never been around a movie set before and it would be interesting. The filming is being done right on the beach, it's pretty cool.

From the local news reports, the kid is being very gracious to her young fans, and has been spotted at local places eating with her family. She even sang one night.

That would be so cool if you could get the part. I'm sure they will do a big "opening of the movie" in Savannah.
Do they say where she is staying?
And, the poor Trolley Tours will have to go out to the Island now. Many like to include all the places where the movies were filmed in their tour.

Yes, in fact they ARE filming this movie before the book. From what I read, he wrote the book with her in mind for the role.

"Greg Kinnear and Kelly Preston will play the parents of Miley Cyrus's character in "The Last Song," the big-screen adaptation of the upcoming Nicholas Sparks novel."

I wonder if Kelly Preston visited Savannah when John was here filming The General's Daughter.

I wonder if the book is set there, or if they're using Savannah to represent somewhere in NC? His books have always, to my knowledge, been set in NC, although the locations in some of the movies have been different. I'm not sure if I'll read the book, because I've recently come to the conclusion that he's too depressing for me!

They announced on the local news that the location in the movie and book has been changed to Tybee.

"Initially, the movie was to be set at Wrightsville Beach, N.C., but once location scouts saw Tybee's distinctive look, movie executives asked author Nicholas Sparks if he would agree to change the setting to Tybee. He did."

Pretty cool, I think. There are alot of landmarks distinctive to Tybee.

Hi There! We're only about half an hour from Savannah and hear about her sighting it seems like every morning on the news. I have little ones thankfully so we're not a part of the Miley mania. I thought it might be fun to drive down for an afternoon just to check it out but other than that, no draw for us just yet.

Hopefully you'll be able to do the medic thing there!
