Milesource Air Award

I cashed out for $50.00 off a delta airline flight. I received an e-mail from milesource giving me a certificate number and a phone number to call. I guess you call this 800 number and book your airline with them and they take the $50.00 off. I guess I thought they sent you a gift certificate or something you could take to a travel agent and book. Has anyone ever done this? I'm a little nervous about calling up and booking this through them with my credit card and everything. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.
