I'm trying to figure out how long it's going to take for us to get to the Fort from Southwest Ohio, which is 985 miles. If I look at our last trip, it took us 15 hours to get from New York City to home, which is 627 miles. This includes stops to walk the "boys" every couple of hours and two meals. If I go by that trip, our travel time was approximately the same as if we drove 40 mph straight through. (This is usually when my head starts to hurt!) OK, if I take the 985 miles at 40 mph, this would mean that it'll take us approximately 25 hours to get to the Fort. Yikes - That sounds like a long time. Does that travel time sound about right with your trips?

Hi! We're neighbors.:goodvibes We live in NE Pa, and are 1200 miles from FW.
Our trip takes between 19-22 hours usually, depending on traffic, construction, etc. That includes stopping to eat, and quick leg stretching, because we have 4 kids! We had been to FW several times to stay in the cabins, and normally DH drove all night because it was easier on him, and the kids. This past Thanksgiving, I refused to let him drive straight through because it was our first time pulling our tt, so we broke the trip up, driving 12 hours the first day and 9 the second. Are you staying in the cabins, or at the campground?

We drove to WDW from far northern Illinois in November - 1200 miles. We left home at 5:30 am CT and stopped for the night at 9:30 pm ET. On day 2 we left at 6:30 am and arrived a little before noon. So it was 20.5 hours total -15 hours the first day and 5.5 hours the second day. We were in a motorhome, so we only had to take bathroom breaks for the driver (with 7 of us we could have added a couple more hours just making multiple potty stops!) and 1 fuel stop each way. When we did stop it usually took at least 15 minutes and usually a lot more. I don't think we ever exceeded 65 mph. Hope that helps.

We drive from northern Ohio and it takes us around 21 hrs. to get to FW. On the way down we take our time and spend two nights on the road. This allows us to get at FW bright and early the following morning. On the return trip we feel the clock ticking and push harder; driving longer hrs each day and only spend one night (two days) traveling.

We're pulling our trailer, so I'm sure it's going to take us longer than if we just took the car. We're planning on stopping two nights so our days aren't so long. Maybe 10 hours first day, 10 hours second day, and hopefully stopping close to Disney. If we do that, we can hopefully take our time to get over to FW the day of check-in. That's all considering that our trip is uneventful, which I won't even let my mind wonder to all the things that could happen on a trip this far! :scared1:

We're going back in June, and hopefully with daylight on our side (as opposed to November) we can get a few more hours in on the first day.:thumbsup2
Good luck!

Luv2Camp,
If you want it done with math, assuming you go at the same rate, it will take you about 23.5 hours. What ever you did on your trip from NYC, doing the same thing(s), 23 hours 34 minutes after you start, you should arrive there. (985/627)*15 = 23.565 . I will guess you will take a little less time. I would think that going through KY, TN, GA (except Atlanta) and FL will be easier (faster) than most of the North-Eastern states. I could be wrong but when we drive to FW, we seem to make fairly good time. Have fun however long it takes.

I'm no math wiz, but I do know that it takes us 12-13 hours to pull our pop-up the 721 miles to the Fort, including stops. We have 3 daughters and we usually stop once for a sit down down meal, and about 3 more times for gas and potty breaks. We try to go cammando as much as possible and leave early so the kids will sleep.

Theres a lot of construction on I-75 in KY and GA, it didnt really slow us up much since we usually run 60-65 with the trailer and most of the crazies dont slow down at all in the construction. our trip is 1100 miles, halfway is MM 20 in TN, thats where we usually stop on the way home. On the way down we sometimes leave in the evening after DW gets home from work and then drive to just south of Florence KY, sleep for 7 hrs and then drive to Perry GA and stay at MM 135. The next morning we are up and in Fort wilderness in about 7 hrs. With 3 kids and a teaspoon size fuel tank we end up stopping every 100-125 miles. IIRC I made it back in about 22 hrs of drive time on the way home 2 weeks ago.

We do a 1,000 one way. We stop every 150 miles give or take 50 and it takes around 18 hours. The only hills we go through are in Florida so its a strait shot for us. We pull a 5er.

On long trips, WDW of 1300 miles 1 way, without a trailer we average about 55-60 mph, with a trailer about 50- 55mph with stops, and we make plenty of them. I am not a speed demon either.

I usually guestimate 50mph average with the trailer if it's not going to require an overnight stop (which doesn't get me far with the family in tow)

Here to WDW is 1200mi which would be about 20hrs alone, but with the wife and kids, it turns into a two day drive :sad2:

It took us about 25hrs from SE Penna. 1100miles or so. But that included 1-2hour rest the back stop, then a 4 hour wait for the roadside service stop to fix the MH. We left early evening and I drove through the night. I didn't mind it too much but the DW and kids didn't. it was just too long inside for them! Next time we will stop for a layover part way thru and hopefully nono more waiting for the service truck! ;)

We figure 2 hours for every 100 miles. It has worked with us so far. That allows time for fuel stops, rest areas and meals.

It takes me about 3 1/2 hours in my 38' motor home pulling trailer with a golf cart from Ft Lauderdale!!!! Sorry I couldn't resist.

Ouch! That's about how long it takes me to get to the nearest grocery store! :lmao:
