Mild Vegetarian Meals?

Hello,

I am hoping for some suggestions for our upcoming trip to Disney in June 2022. I am a vegetarian and last time we went (Summer 2019) I followed some advice for plant-based dining that frequently was too spicy for me; I have an unfortunately low tolerance for spicy food. I wish I was better as I love the flavors of many foods that are often served spicy, but it makes me sick and I cannot eat the food :( For example, while every review I read of Skipper Canteen was very positive for plant-based meals, I was unable to eat my meal there on our last trip because it was too spicy.

I watch youtube videos and read blog posts trying to plan ahead, but they don't seem to actually give much information beyond "it is really flavorful" or "it has a kick", which could mean anything really. If anyone has tried any plant-based meals and can give me a spiciness rating, I would appreciate it.

As a note, I am vegetarian, not vegan, so if anyone wants to recommend a cheesy pasta dish, or something with egg in it as well as foods labelled plant-based, those would be fine as well.

Thanks!

We have a stuck thread above. Start at the end and work backwards for most recent everything.

I'm glad you mentioned that you were vegetarian, not vegan. I had the Brazilian cheese balls (vegetarian, but wouldn't be vegan) with a side of fruit last time I was at Skipper Canteen.

We ate at Rose & Crown at Epcot, and the vegan shepherd's pie (referred to on the menu as "Savory Impossible Hot Pot") had nothing spicy in it. It was mostly potatoes, with some alt meat and veggies underneath. British food in general is probably going to be safe. That's the only veg dish displayed on the menu, but our server listed off three or four others, mostly veg versions of the meat dishes (including a veg version of the bangers and mash, and a plant-based fish and chips). The hot pot was tasty and will be good for someone who doesn't like spice. I like alt meat, but I know others don't, so I'll also mention that since the Impossible meat is ground up and mixed into the veggies, it isn't as alt-meaty as eating a solid burger. It's more incorporated into the dish.

At the Hollywood Brown Derby Lounge (or the HBD itself), I had the Cobb salad without the turkey and bacon, and there's nothing spicy in that. It has eggs and cheese to keep it from being just a plate of vegetables.

I don't think any of the veg dishes we got at Wine Bar George were spicy. We had the grilled romaine, the mac & cheese bites, and the saganaki on fire (basically cheese that they briefly set on fire tableside). Surprisingly, we both liked the grilled romaine the most, but they were all good.

I had the plant-based skillet at 'Ohana, and I don't recall anything being spicy. Flavorful, yes, but not spicy. But even if something is too strong for you, it's AYCTE, so just order more of what you do like. They sure do skimp on the vegetables unless you ask for more, though. Guess they're used to people asking for more meat and not usually for more broccoli.

The last time I ate at the Rose & Crown, I asked if they would make me egg and chips, which I remembered fondly from many cafés in London. They were happy to accommodate, and it was delicious.
