Mike & Missy Plus Six-A 9/11/11 Dream Trip Report! Update-12/08-COMPLETE!!

Missy I am so sorry to hear about Sadie :sad1: I know what it is like to lose a furry member of your family and my heart goes out to you! One day you will think about her and just be happy that you got to share your life with her, instead of just bawling your eyes out, I promise you

Glad to hear Mike is doing better :thumbsup2

I am late reading your trippie but I am here now and looking forward to hearing about your adventures :goodvibes

Isn't it awesome not having to deal with crazy cling-on shower curtains :rolleyes1:lmao:;)

Nice Mickey shirt btw :rolleyes::thumbsup2

Wow, that is a lot of Disers!

The ship is so pretty. :cloud9:

I was surprised at the number of people that were in the group considering it was a short cruise!

Love the picture with Mike and Donald! Donald is my absolute favorite!

The ship is so pretty, I can't wait to see it in person. Those stars on the carpet in front of the District are so cute!

Donald happens to be Mike's fave as well!!

Pictures really don't do the ship justice, actually--you'll understand once you see it in person!!

Missy and Family -
I am a longtime lurker and love your reports! I just wanted to tell you that the exact same thing happened to us to our younger dog - a border collie - 3 years ago. He had a broken tooth from a nylon bone, and I thought it was infection. We held out for a bit to say goodbye because of the shock, and the waiting outcome was heartbreaking. We tried a medication but no radiation etc. It seemed to speed up the whole thing. He started to stumble and we knew it was time. You made the right decision, and any loving pet owner knows when it is time to do that for their beloved furbaby. I had a basset hound for my first dog when I was a little kid. We never forget them, but they will be waiting for us! Many hugs and now I am crying too. :grouphug: You angel furbaby knows that you had her best interest at heart. After all dogs are many times wiser than we are!

Wow, what sweet words. I'm sorry to make you cry. It really is heartbreaking, and one of the hardest things we've ever had to do. Maybe my Sadie and your little one will meet up and be great friends.

What a great group shot of the DISers. Love it when there is such a tremendous turnout. And your photos around the ship are beautiful!

Thank you!! DIS'ers are definitely awesome people!!:grouphug:

Cass!!! It's so good to see you post here!! How are you, Rob and little Miss K? I can't imagine how big she's gotten!!

Thank you for your kind words...You always know how to make me smile. The shower curtain comment made me laugh out loud! I love it!:rotfl:

Lots of DISers! :thumbsup2

That ship looks so beautiful! I can't wait to try it out one day! We'll be on the Fantasy before the Dream though. Did I tell you that? We have had the maiden voyage of the Fantasy booked for like 1.5 yrs! :rotfl: My DH is crazy! He's the one that wanted to do a MV and with the Fantasy coming out, he booked it. I might have to do a TR on that. :goodvibes

NO, you didn't tell me that!! That's so amazing and awesome, Jennifer! I'm so excited for you!!! :dance3: Yes, you HAVE to do a TR for that one, for sure!!popcorn:: I think the Fantasy is going to be SO VERY COOL!:cool2:

When I last left off, Mike and I were heading back to the room to grab Dustin before making our way to the Safety Drill. Our station was out on Deck 4, under the life boats, and it was a tad bit warm out, so I was REALLY glad that we didn't have to wear the life jackets! That was definitely a welcomed change!!:thumbsup2

I think because we were out in the sun and heat, it seemed like the drill took forever this time!! Last cruise, we were lucky enough to have been in the Walt Disney theatre!

After the drill, we decided to head on up to the Sailaway Party, but first wanted to see if the rest of the gang wanted to go with. So, we ran back up to deck 8 to see if we could locate them in their room. Luckily, we ran into them and we decided to all meet up.

Somehow, we must have gotten confused on where we were suppose to meet as Mike and I could never find them. So, we settled into a spot on the upper deck that gave us a good view of the festivities!!

AS we waited, Mike was a sweetheart and went and got us each a Bon Voyage to enjoy! Ever since our 2nd cruise, those have been my very favorite drinks ever, so I always enjoy having one while onboard!

The party soon started, and I of course started snapping away! Thank goodness for a decent zoom lens!

And before we knew it, we were sailing away!!
EmbarkationDay112.jpg

We really enjoyed the party and were glad that we decided to check it out again this time since we skipped it on the last cruise! It definitely gets you into "cruise" mode!

We found a spot by the railing and watched us sail on out of PC before we decided to head back to the room to get ready for our first dinner of the crusie!!

Next up: The New Animator's Palate!

That party looks like so much fun! Even though you couldn't find the rest of them, it looks like you got a perfect spot!

How's Mike's arm? I hope healing up nicely.

We did have a great spot.

You're so sweet to ask about his arm, and I'm happy to report that it's healing very well!! He goes back to the surgeon on the 24th, but they told us that it should be healed by then!! I've been very surprised at how fast it has healed!:thumbsup2

And so glad his arm is doing so well! That is great!

Once again, we'd decided that we really liked the early dining time, so we were set to be at dinner at 5:45 each evening. And tonight's dinner was in the new Animator's Palate, which I was really excited to experience!

Already, I was loving all the details!

We were led to our table, which was #8, and happened to be right by one of the big screens that Crush appears on!!
EmbarkationDay119.jpg

We were the first to arrive at our table, and we figured the rest of the crew would be there shortly.
I noticed even more detail on the table and was really impressed with all the new changes!

Within a few minutes, our Assistant Server, Bertram from Jamaica came over and introduced himself. He asked if the others were going to join us, and we told him yes. Since they still hadn't arrived, Mike gave them a quick call on the wave phone. I think there was a little confusion, as they said they were just going to skip the restaurant and go eat at the buffet. We were all a little disappointed since this was the first dinner of the cruise, and our only night in AP! So, we let Bertram know that they weren't coming after all.

He went ahead and brought us the menus and took our drink orders.

Shortly, thereafter, we met our Server, whose name totally escapes me at the moment!!:headache:

Before we knew it, our appetizers had arrived. I went with the Wild Mushroom Risotto and Porcini Twist, which I discovered on our last cruise and totally fell in love with:
EmbarkationDay120.jpg

And Mike had the Smoked Salmon Tartare:
EmbarkationDay121.jpg

Dustin decided he didn't want an appetizer, which I think he ended up regretting after he saw Mike's!

Our appetizers had just arrived when the rest of the gang finally showed up!! We never figured out what the confusion was all about, but I think maybe Allen didn't want to eat in the dining room that night. Either way, we were glad they were there!!

Next up were our soups, which Dustin also decided to skip on.
Mike had the Creamy Butternut Squash:

And I went with the Baked Potato and Cheddar Cheese, which was really good:

I think it was around this time that Crush started appearing on the different screens around the restaurant. He was absolutely hilarious as he picked on a couple from a couple tables over that were just married. (They were actually part of the DIS group.) It was too funny as he made the groom talk in "Crush" to his Bride! We all got a good chuckle, and the Groom was a great sport!:rotfl:

By this time, the rest of the gang that were late had gotten all caught up with their appetizers and soups. I thought the servers did a good job of getting everything out quickly for them!

And soon after the main courses started to arrive. I decided to go with the Marinated Angus Beef Tenderloin, which was very tasty!
EmbarkationDay124.jpg

Dustin and Mike both had the Baked Salmon, which they both enjoyed:

Right before dessert came out, we noticed our servers along with the head server and a couple others walking towards our table with a dish and it hit me that I had noted our Anniversary on the reservation!! We were celebrating 12 years today! They made us both blush when they tied our hands together with a napkin then sang us a song!
EmbarkationDay127.jpg

I didn't realize that DCL now had their own versions of the celebration buttons!
EmbarkationDay129.jpg

So, in addition to what we'd already ordered for dessert, we also had a little something extra!
Mike had the Chocolate Brownie Cheesecake:
EmbarkationDay130.jpg

And I had the Cookies and Cream Sundae (Gotta love the Mickey on top!):

Again, Dustin decided to skip this course. If I didn't know any better, I'd think he was trying to watch his figure!:lmao:

We thoroughly enjoyed our meal, and Mike and I both decided that the AP food was better than we remembered!

With our first night's meal behind us, we decided to head to the shops before taking a stroll around the ship.

Next up: The Dream after dark!

What an excellent update! I actually had a dream last night that we were finally on our cruise and eating in AP but I forgot to order an appetizer, it was so funny! I was so mad at myself for forgetting :) love all the delicious food picks! Glad the rest of the gang finally joined you for dinner :)

Isn't it funny how amusing "pre-cruise" dreams can be! I always seem to dream about forgetting my camera...I wonder if that means I take too many pictures! lol

Well, I certainly hope you don't forge to order an app!!:rotfl:

So glad everyone eventually made it to dinner. I took a ship tour of the Dream about a month ago, and snapped several pictures of AP. My hubby and I were commenting (as we were looking through my pics and happened upon the AP ones) about how the artistry on the ship gets lost on so many people. The new AP on the Dream is just incredible with its attention to detail.

And how fun with the celebration buttons on cake. CONGRATS!

Love all the details in the AP!!

Did you ever find out what all the confusion was about regarding dinner?

You most definitely DO NOT take too many pictures! I love all the pictures!

You are so right about these funky pre-cruise dreams! Sometimes I think we're finally on the cruise but I realize we're in this small dingy, and I'm looking around at rotting walls and thinking 'this doesn't look like the pictures of the Dream that I've seen!' I have always had a horribly overactive imagination!

The appetizer I must get is the Black Truffle Pasta Purseittes.

Your camera sure does have a good zoom lens! Great Sail Away pics!
Love the AP pictures!
